Hoboken Music Awards 2012
Organizers purposely delayed the handing out of awards this year in order to raise money to help musicians in need following Hurricane Sandy. Their originally scheduled night of ceremony and fun at Maxwell’s was turned onto a fundraiser which we called The Hobey Fund. They raised over $1600 and  are very proud of the Hoboken community!

It is thus now time to celebrate the great music makers of Hoboken. So come out on Saturday December 15 at 8pm to Northern Soul (557 1st Street) as they announce the winners and present the proceeds from their fundraiser.

“The Fave” Rock Uptown Piers to Benefit Hoboken Homeless Shelter

Last night at Hoboken’s Uptown Piers, “Black Water”(no relation to Dick Cheney) and crowd pleaser “The Fave”  rocked the audience with their own original songs to benefit the Hoboken Homeless Shelter. A good turnout made for a festive evening and Cork City Pub helped out by matching the money raised at last night’s fundraiser.

TheBoken was able to speak with Jaclyn Cherubini Executive Director of  The Hoboken Shelter and she was proud that so far 72 people have been helped out of the state of homelessness already this year. At that rate The Hoboken Shelter will help save over 140 people from homelessness this year. The shelter houses over people nightly and serves over 300 meals daily. Their budget is sourced from grants and such but at least 1/4 of the money that they raise has to come from fundraisers like this. All proceeds from last night will go directly to the Hoboken Shelter.

Next Thursday July 7th, there will be another show at the uptown piers from 7:30 pm  to 10:00 pm.

Below are some photos and video of the event. Apologies in advance for the poor lighting quality of the video. The ultra portable camera used has its limitations in night time settings with poor lighting.
