TEDx Hoboken is hosting a countdown party thrown on behalf of their big June 28th event on Wednesday, April 24th from 7pm – 9pm. This is a free event but you must RSVP. There are free appetizers and $5 Drink Specials. Teak is right near the Hoboken PATH Station at 16-18- Hudson Place, Hoboken NJ and the party is on the 2nd floor with NYC skyline views.

The Ninth Annual Hoboken Shelter Silent Auction will be held at Teak once again on Wednesday, December 5 from 7 to 10 pm.
The Hoboken Shelter has seen a huge increase in demand for its services since Hurricane Sandy as it remains the only open shelter in Hoboken now that the temporary shelters have closed. The Shelter was providing 400 meals a day before the hurricane, and it is now serving 800 meals per day which has strained its infrastructure and finances. Please join the group at this wonderful event which provides much needed support for our local shelter.
Teak is located at 16-18 Hudson Place in Hoboken and the minimum cover is $25. This gets you 1/2 price drinks and complimentary appetizers. Email any questions to event@hobokenshelter.org.
Relay For Life, is a life changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remembered loved ones lost and fight back the disease. Relay For Life of Hoboken led by 55 teams and the Planning committee has reached an amazing fundraising total of $128,000 and will continue to raise funds at the Fight Back Night and Silent Auction. Tickets are on sale now.
Relay For Life of Hoboken was established in 2002 and they have reached $1 million raised in Hoboken over the past 10 years. The teams invite the Hudson County community to come to Fight Back Night and Silent Auction. Relay For Life has been raising funds from September to August. This organization celebrates cancer survivors, remembers those lost to the disease, and gives the community the opportunity to fight back by raising funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society, the nation’s #1 not-for-profit contributor of funds for cancer research.

Reminder- This event is tonight at 7pm! There are now over 100 silent auction items and approx 30 raffle items. Everything you can think of will be made available to the public. It is $25 donation to come and Teak is providing free appetizers and there will be half priced drinks at the event. Hoboken Batman will be in attendance as well in full costume to shake hands and take pictures with everyone as well.
Hoboken Homeless Shelter Fundraiser 12-7-11 at Teak
On December 7th (tonight), the Hoboken Homeless Shelter will hold it’s yearly silent auction and raffle fundraiser at Teak on the Hudson located across from Lackawanna Station in Hoboken from 7pm to 10pm.
The shelter houses 50 people nightly and serves 350 meals daily, and provides such support services as food, shelter, case management, counseling, job and life skills training, creative arts workshops, and emergency homelessness prevention grants.
A minimum donation of $25 is asked at the door and 1/2 price drinks and complimentary appetizers will be served. Approximately 100 prizes will be offered in silent auction format as well as scores of raffle prizes will be offered.
This year’s prizes include NJ Devils tickets, sports memorabilia, gift cards to various local restaurants / retailers, and the event will even include actual one of a kind pre-worn Hoboken Batman attire.

Below is a calendar that harkens back to the day before political correctness and sexual harassment seminars that would make such a calendar legally problematic in the workplace today. This calendar is from the old Schaefer’s Restaurant which now houses the restaurant Teak and is from 1959. The current downtown restaurant Teak is where Schaefer’s used to be as well as the bar God Save the Planet years back.

Here is a view from upstairs at Teak Restaurant located near the PATH station in Hoboken, NJ. Teak is one of Hoboken’s restaurant with very good décor.
On December 7th 2010 The Hoboken Homeless Shelter held their annual winter fundraiser at Teak on the Hudson. Each year, the Hoboken Homeless Shelter holds various silent auctions and tricky tray events in Hoboken to raise money and awareness for the homeless population in Hoboken.
The winter fundraiser is considered the biggest fundraiser of the year and was overflowing with silent auction prizes donated by various local businesses. In addition to the silent auction prizes, raffle tickets were sold to win additional prizes during the evening.
Approximately 150 people rallied to support the shelter at Teak in Hoboken. The admission was $25 and event goers were treated to complimentary finger foods and drink specials. Having attended last year, there were double the amount of silent auction prizes as compared to last year. All sorts of restaurant gift certificates were available, golf clubs donated by a Hoboken resident who works for Callaway, gift baskets, wines, coffee samplers, professional sporting event tickets, hotel stays and more were available. This writer won 2 prizes in the silent auction. I got a $200 gift card to the wonderful jewelry store W. Kodak Jewelers as well as a perfume package donated by Macy’s.
Many local notables were on hand to show their support this year including Mayor Dawn Zimmer, Anthony "Stick" Romano and Council Woman Beth Mason. Many local business owners were in attendance as well. In addition, many local volunteers and shelter employees were on hand for a fantastic night of giving and caring.
I personally splurged and bought my fair share of raffle tickets and won 6 additional prizes including 2 tickets to see the NY Bricks (Knicks I mean) and a gift card for 8 movies to our local theatre.
A big hats off to Hoboken Homeless Shelter Chairman of the Board Todd Kinney and his wife for putting together a night of awesomeness. Another tip of the cap goes to Jacklyn Cherubini, Executive Director at the Shelter and her staff for making tonight a fun filled and exciting event. A double fist pump to the folks at Teak for allowing tonight to be possible.
The Hoboken Homeless Shelter is located at 300 Bloomfield St. here in Hoboken. It operates as a 24/7 facility for local residents who are without a place to sleep or eat. If you would like to volunteer your time as a volunteer please call 201-656-5069. There are a wide arrange of volunteer needs like serving and preparing meals, public speaking, job placement assistance, sorting and distributing donations and more available to those who would like to help.
In closing, please please please if you have free time, even just an hour a week, contact the shelter and offer your assistance. Together as Hoboken residents we can work together and make a difference. One square mile of love can really make i difference….
