Trinity Customer Night A Success – Hoboken 411 loses over 4,000 Twitter Followers in 2 Days

Trinity Customer Appreciation Night 4-11-2013 smaller

Last night Trinity in Hoboken held a customer appreciation night on April 11, 2013. The background behind this was that in late March Hoboken 411 posted on his website that Trinity was closing and would become an Italian restaurant. Kevin Cocca who is one of the owners has attempted to contact Hoboken411 the next day to get the facts corrected as Trinity has no plans of closing or selling to Italian restauranteurs. Kevin remarked that false information like that was detrimental to their business and they spent time assuring both staff and patrons they were not closing. A week later Hoboken411 finally pulled the post when a letter from Trinity’s attorney was sent. The negative behavior on the part of Hoboken 411 prompted Trinity Management to do something positive by hosting  a customer appreciation night on 4-11 which was very well attended with over 100-125 people in the main bar area alone. Several people TheBoken.com spoke to said they no longer read Hoboken411 due to the personal attacks and negativity. As editor I was more than happy to pass out my website’s business cards.

Congratulations to Trinity for standing up to the misinformation of Hoboken411 and the smearing petty posts of Perry Klaussen. It is the hope of  TheBoken.com that other businesses take Trinity’s lead and do the same. Hoboken businesses should not be bullied by bitter bloggers but rather supported by websites such as TheBoken.com and others that have a positive view of Hoboken.

Here is the best part in my humble opinion. In the last two days, Hoboken411 has lost over 4,000 Twitter followers. According to TwitSprout Hoboken411 is hemorrhaging Twitter followers. I have my doubts as to those followers being real in the first place as they were likely paid for but that is a great example of  karma doing its own thing. See the heavy bleeding below in rejoice that in some small way justice is being served….

Hoboken 411 loses over 4000 Twitter followers in 2 days!

On Thursday Hoboken411 lost 2,636 Twitter followers and so far today that website has lost 1,589 and counting. Again, I doubt many of them were real followers in the first place but this plummet in followers certainly is. It could not happen to a nicer guy.

Hoboken Spring – Will it Ever Truly Arrive? – Outdoor Café Spaces Remain Empty Due to Cold

Mikie Squared Outdoor Seating Hoboken

As of April 1st, Hoboken allows outdoor seating for any restaurant and bar that has the permits for it. However, given this year’s cold spring to date much of the outdoor seating remains unused except for a few hearty folks. Once the weather does warm up Hoboken’s main streets should be buzzing with the outdoor café feel that make it one of New Jersey’s tourist destination spots, especially on weekends. In order to help Hoboken recover from Hurricane Sandy it would have been nice for these businesses to get a bit of a break but instead the cold continues. Mother Nature has been most unkind to Hoboken in the last three years with Snowmageddon 2010, Irene in 2011 and Sandy in 2012.

What ever happened to that prediction from Punxsutawney Phil on February 2nd that said spring was only 6 weeks away since he did not see his shadow? Some have remarked online that this groundhog should be sued for false advertising. In fact an Ohio based prosecutor Mike Gmoser has done just that, sued the allegedly lying Punxsutawney Phil for “misrepresenting an early spring.” This should not be taking too seriously though. Read more here: http://www.metro.us/newyork/news/national/2013/03/22/lawyer-sues-groundhog-punxsutawney-phil-seeks-death-penalty-for-being-dirty-liar/. All joking aside, I do think the death penalty for the fury rodent is a bit harsh. Where is Bob Barker when you need him?

The truth is long term weather forecasting isn’t reliable due to the complexities of weather and our current ability to model it effectively. So putting stock in a rodent as the harbinger of Spring should not surprise anyone when the forecast runs afoul. Perhaps monkeys shooting darts might be just as reliable. Anyway, here is hoping for a chnage in the weather soon. Hoboken’s diners could sure use it and Hoboken 411 is getting fatigued from blaming Mayor Zimmer for it. Even political mercenaries have their limits. Before you know Summer will be here. It time for Mother Nature to give us a break. Anyone up for a pagan weather dance?

Washington Street Shuffle McDonalds in Hoboken Gets a McMakeover – Looks Ready to Reopen Soon

Hoboken McDonalds Makeover 4-2-2013 #1

Hoboken’s McDonalds was shut down recently to undergo extensive renovations. Now it looks like those renovations are nearly done. The counter has been moved up to the front of the store and the tired old look from what appeared to be the 70’s has now been replaced with a much more modern and clean look. Contrary to popular perception, McDonalds does have healthy items on the menu but lets be honest for a moment: are you really going to go to McDonalds to get a salad or a Big Mac? Here is wishing the new look success for this franchise that serves Hoboken’s less affluent and the well-off alike and provided free Wi-Fi that was very reliable.

Surf Taco Coming To Hoboken in June 2013 or April Fools Joke?

Yesterday on April Surf  Taco wrote on their Facebook page: “Opening June 2013 ST Hoboken…” This statement had some wondering if this was not some April fools joke. One one level it makes sense since they have many locations on the Jersey Shore which is frequented by Hobokenites. While it is likely to pan out to be true the fact it was announced on April 1st will have some people doubting. I honestly don’t feel any firm would jeopardize their reputation April fools joke or not.  The announcement did  create some buzz on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/surftaco.

Little Town, NJ Restaurant Set to Open Early to Mid April in Hoboken

The concept of farm to table is a promising environmental and economic trend where as much as possible, food and drink is bought from local producers which benefits local farmers and businesses and is good for the environment as well due to decrease in food transport. The upcoming Little Town NJ restaurant, located at the former Quays on Hoboken’s waterfront is poised to capitalize on that. Along with the fame of Albie and Chris Manzo and the expertise of the Village Pourhouse ownership, this has the potential to be a successful and different Hoboken restaurant offering….

Coming Soon Little Town NJ Restaurant Hoboken 3-8-2013

Little Town, NJ is the 3rd location planned of the popular contemporary NYC eatery from restaurateurs Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr. Little Town NJ plans to authentically bring the “Little Town” concept of locally sourced food and drink to Hoboken, with an extensive selection of local beers on tap (from breweries in Fairfield and Ocean County, Atlantic Highlands and Roselle Park among others) and classic American comfort favorites. Alongside regional Jersey specialties on the menu, Little Town NJ combines its approachable neighborhood-driven hospitality with the reality star power of Albie & Chris Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey to give the new space a decidedly original New Jersey flair.

In addition to serving lunch and dinner, Little Town NJ will offer a farm-to-table brunch buffet on weekends and Sunday Gravy with recipes from the Manzo’s mother Caroline.

The inviting space was crafted with its own farmer’s market area, where local farmers and purveyors will display and discuss their produce, which will also be featured in menu items.

Taking its inspiration from local Jersey ingredients and specialties, Little Town NJ will serve a spirited selection of American comfort classics. From small plates such as Char-grilled Cape May Oysters (from Cape May Salt) with Savory Gorgonzola Butter; Little Town Rice Balls stuffed with NJ Taylor Ham and Cheese; and Fried “Mutz”-breaded and fried freshly pulled local Mozzarella served with spicy Jersey Tomato Marinara, to heartier options like the East Hanover Dog, a classic Italian Hotdog wrapped in locally-baked Pizza Crust and stuffed with Sautéed Peppers, Onions and Crispy Potatoes; or the Short Hills Joe, a NJ deli-style Sloppy Joe of Roast Beef or Turkey with Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing on fresh Rye and six varieties of cheeses on the menu from Valley Shepherd Creamery in Long Valley, guests will find an American comfort food menu that pairs perfectly with the bar’s extensive selection of local craft beers.
