Hoboken Downtown Farmer’s Market Set to Start Tuesday June 26th 2012 from 3-7:30pm

From the City of Hoboken, announcing the official opening of the Hoboken Downtown Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays starting June 26, 2012….

The Hoboken Downtown Farmers’ Market will be bringing Jersey Fresh produce to our fair City for the 16th straight year. The market, located just two blocks west of Hoboken Terminal, on Washington Street between Newark Street and Observer Highway, will open on Tuesday June 26th and continue every Tuesday through October 30th from 3pm to 7:30pm.

This year will bring exciting new vendors to add to the variety provided by our established vendors. Returning for another season with us are Melick’s Town Farm of Oldwick, Union Hill Farms of Denville, Star Brite Organic Farms of Andover, Organic Bakers, the Bread Company, of Montclair, and Pickle-licious of Teaneck with their wide variety of pickles and olives. New for the 2012 Hoboken Downtown Farmers’ Market will be the cheeses and other treats of Bobolink Dairy Farms of Milford, Gourmet Nuts and Dried Fruit from East Hanover, and Jersey City’s Saucy Sara’s Salsa.

The Hoboken Downtown Farmers’ Market’s produce vendors accept WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) coupons as well as senior citizen vouchers. Eligible seniors can receive $20 in vouchers starting Wednesday, June 20th at the Multi Service Center, located at 124 Grand Street (Hoboken Senior Citizens Program). Identification is required.

The market will also continue to work with the Hoboken Rotary Club to provide fresh produce to the Hoboken Shelter at the end of every market day. From New Jersey’s famous tomatoes and sweet corn to peaches, pickles and pies, the Downtown Farmers’ Market provides residents a weekly place to exchange recipes, ideas and to pick up delicious and nutritious fruits and vegetables to fill the fridge. All of the produce sold at the Hoboken Downtown Farmers’ Market is certified ‘Jersey Fresh’. Buying locally grown ‘Jersey Fresh’ produce and products helps the local economy, the environment, and is just plain good for you.

If you don’t get it locally, you just don’t get it.
