Today’s photo of the day is of the crowd at the Hoboken Arts and Music Festival that was held yesterday. The weather was perfect and the festival was well attended. Local bands like Swingadelic performed and the headliner this year was Mike Doughty.
Here is an HDR photo of a beautiful tree in Elysian Park Hoboken. I took this photo yesterday near sunset which is a great time to get shots. If you are interested in sharing you photos please submit them to Theboken.com at theboken@gmail.com and let us know how you want to be attributed.
I took this photo yesterday on the way home on the NY Waterway ferry from my office in New York City. The top of the Freedom tower is near completion and I am just trying to capture as much of the construction progress as I can. This taken with the Nikon D600 and my all purpose 26mm-300mm lens. I took three separate photos at different exposures and used Photomatix to merge them in HDR. I went for a photorealistic effect and the result of course is increased dynamic range of the shot without artifice. I look forward to taking this shot again when everything is completed.

Today’s photo of the day was taken last weekend at Hoboken’s Pier A Park with a view of the World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower. The green grass and lovely weather a testament that Spring has finally sprung in Hoboken.
Today’s photo of the day is a snapshot taken yesterday of the World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower which now has its spire installed and most of the windows installed. The Twin Towers will always have a visual imprint in the minds of New Yorkers as well as the many commuters from New Jersey who remember those impressive buildings. The Freedom Tower now near completion will create a new focal point for downtown New York City. This photo is an HDR but utilizes a filter that makes it photo realistic. Below are mosaic and oil-ified versions of original photo.
Here is another spring time shot of Hoboken trees transitioning from flowering to sprouting new leaves. This was taken on 1st Street and is an HDR photo.
The City of Boston and the surrounding area have endured one tragic and eventful week. With the bombing of the Boston Marathon on Monday April 15th that killed three and wounded over 100 people and yesterday’s lockdown and pursuit of the the two bomber suspects The City of Boston and Watertown have endured much grief and stress. A lockdown of a city that size is unprecedented (at least in recent memory). Thankfully due to the talents and diligence of local, state and Federal authorities the suspects were either killed, as the older brother was or apprehended as the younger suspect was after only 23 hours of intense pursuit.
This photo is from my brother Erik who lives in the Boston area and was taken from Boylston Street today. The photo shows that people have set up a memorial around the police barricades. This photo is haunting on so many levels. Stay strong Boston and as the British World War II slogan says: “Stay calm and carry on”
Today’s photo of the day is from the Hudson River and features the World Trade Center’s Freedom Tower soaring majestically above downtown New York City. Since Hurricane Sandy TheBoken.com’s editor has not enjoyed this view too often as I have been relegated to mostly telecommuting. When you have a commute like this, it is really hard to complain about the views.
