This local bar has a friendly and down to earth feel for 4th Ward residents as well as all of Hoboken.
The 4th Annual Hoboken Music Awards Ceremony will now be on December 15, 2012 at Northern Soul 557 First Street Hoboken, NJ….
Organizers purposely delayed the handing out of awards this year in order to raise money to help musicians in need following Hurricane Sandy. Their originally scheduled night of ceremony and fun at Maxwell’s was turned onto a fundraiser which we called The Hobey Fund. They raised over $1600 and are very proud of the Hoboken community!
It is thus now time to celebrate the great music makers of Hoboken. So come out on Saturday December 15 at 8pm to Northern Soul (557 1st Street) as they announce the winners and present the proceeds from their fundraiser.

Here is another music event in Hoboken and for a good cause at the intimate Northern Soul….
The Creative Mission Against Cervical Cancer will hold its 3rd annual charity event on Saturday, January 28th 2012 from 8pm-11pm at Northern Soul in Hoboken, NJ. This event will bring together local musicians to raise money and awareness in the fight against cervical cancer. All money raised goes directly to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition.
It has been a great success the past few years and promises to be even bigger this year. The group is excited to announce a full returning line up! To open the evening will be Hoboken’s own Celtic jammers "Gold n Brown", along with the biggest thing in NJ since Taylor Ham, "Bern and The Brights." And fresh off their recent tour where they played the legendary Tarrytown Music Hall, Rockland County’s favorite sons "Little Rusty".
Northern Soul, a well-known local music spot, along with Dave Entwistle the weekly host of The Peoples Open Mic, generously offered the space again for this year’s event.
Good times, good music, drink specials and a great cause – The National Cervical Cancer Coalition. Please spread word!

Details: Drinking scotch is a sign of refined tastes and knowledge of the drink provides one with an air of sophistication. Northern Soul has decided to bring a little taste of Scotland to their patrons by offering up a scotch tasting event where they’ll happily teach us all about the different types of Scotch and how different regions make differently tasting Scotch. Saturday, January 7th at 4pm. $30 per person. This also includes a 5th specialty Scotch in addition to the 4 being tasted.

“On 10/5/07 my mother Celia lost her 18 year battle with breast cancer. She was my best friend and hero. There is a huge whole in my heart, my life and the lives of many others whom she touched now that she’s gone. She was the most giving selfless person I’ve ever know. In her honor I formed a team for “the race for the cure”. I’m hoping to give this year rather than just grieve so that her struggle and life can be honored. Please join me and my team’s effort to raise funds for “the cure”. We are holding fundraiser that includes beverages, gourmet dinner & dessert buffet for $35 per person on Sat 9/10/11 from 5pm to 8pm at Northern Soul (557 1st Street). Visit Northern Soul on Saturday for Saint Patty’s Day in Hoboken and pay no cover from 9am-11am. One of the few places in town that has zero cover.
The Boken used to find “Sweet Action” at The Brass Rail on Washington Street often but since they did away with it over a year ago, we have been on a hunt for some “Sweet Action”. We are proud to say out search is over and we have located it at Northern Soul on Madison and First Street!
For those of you that do not know what Sweet Action is…. it is one of the best tasting beers every brewed. We first fell in love with the taste when we visited a pub across the Hudson in alphabet city area called Croxley’s.
Sweet Action is brewed at the Sixpoint Brewery in Brooklyn, New York.
Have you tried out Northern Soul? It is a great low key locals pub. With a DJ on the weekends it often gets a couple deep at the bar but you can always enjoy your cocktails at their lounge areas in the front window or towards the back.
They have over 12 beers on drafts which range from the basic Budlight and Miller Lites to Sweet Action and Palm. Northern Soul does have mini pizza’s and pretzels and a book full of local menus for delivery.
When your looking for a relaxing evening out and something off the beaten path give Northern Soul a try and tell them The Boken sent you in!
