Today’s photo of the day is a bird’s eye view of the highly successful Mumford and Sons concert that was held at Hoboken’s Pier A last Wednesday night. Over 15,000 people were in attendance plus many more who were nearby but did not buy tickets. This shot has already been uploaded to our Instagram account http://followgram.me/theboken/ but is featured here in rectangular aspect to get a wider view of the NYC skyline. When the rain finally stopped a rainbow appeared briefly
Last night, 15,000 music fans descended onto Hoboken to hear Mumford and Sons perform on Pier A Park. The British band performed a few of their hit numbers as well as some of their lesser known songs. They even played a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s The Boxer and one fan remarked that their sound was perfect to do that cover. The crowd was enthusiastic but very civilized and the downtown bars and restaurants in downtown area were packed both before and after the performance.
TheBoken.com watched the performance from the HQ of Tisha Creative courtesy of www.hmag.com. The view from 80 River Street’s Penthouse was great but due to noise ordinance concerns was not as loud from this vantage point as I had expected. Below are some photos and a brief video of the band’s performance as well as the fireworks show that concluded the performance.
And here is some good news, based on our sources Mumford and Sons expressed interest in coming back next year. Why not? Pier A as it turns out is a great music venue (as long as the weather holds up). Here is what the Star Ledger had to say about that:
“So warm and festive was the evening that it’s inconceivable that Hoboken and Pier A wouldn’t want to do this again. It’s official: The Pier is a great place for a show. More, please.”

With the Mumford and Sons Concert at Pier A Park scheduled for tonight Hoboken in focus: here is an update on the weather that has some concerned that it could rain out the show that has 15,000 concerts goers expected to attend. The latest forecast according www.weather.com has possible isolated T-storms and t-storms starting at 5pm but ending at 7pm. This could effect early opening acts but if the forecast holds up will still allow for three hours or so of performance time even in the worst case scenario. The radar shows a system that isn’t too large so once it passes things should be ok. Keep in mind that this information is from the weather experts and not TheBoken.com.
Suggestion: Since people are not allowed to bring umbrellas perhaps a poncho should be worn just in case.

NJ.com is reporting that the Mumford and Sons Concert in Hoboken on Pier A August 1st has been sold out. Tickets will probably be on secondary sites so you can expect elevated prices given the demand for this event. Our website received very heavy traffic once we posted this announcement so it would appear the $55 dollar general admission ticket was worth it for Mumford and Sons fans.
