The NY Post has this article yesterday on the unlikelihood of the 7 Train being extended from NYC to Hoboken in anyone’s lifetime. Here is an excerpt:
Mayor Bloomberg’s dream project of extending the line across the Hudson River isn’t happening anytime soon — if it ever does at all, the head of the MTA said today.
The subway extension to New Jersey likely is “not going to happen in our lifetime,” MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota said at a New York Building Congress forum.
He added, “It’s not going to happen in anybody’s lifetime.””
This bad news for advocates of expansion of public transportation and uptown Hobokenites but the reality is this project would cost billions and there is not the money to do this anytime soon. Mayor Bloomberg remained optimistic that at some point it would get done, in somone’s lifetime. He quipped perhaps they have not been born yet.
