The Pumpkin Spice French Press at Maroon

Here is a review of Maroon Coffee Shop in Hoboken by Marley Lynch…..

The Pumpkin Spice French Press at Maroon has me hooked. Pair it with one of their densely delicious pumpkin scones, and I’m flying high. In fact, I haven’t been back to Dunkin all season. Maroon stole my caffeine heart.

Maroon (along with many other business in Hoboken) was hit pretty hard by Hurricane Sandy, so I’ve been making an effort to frequent these smaller establishments  as they bravely get back on their feet. This little coffee gem with assorted homemade croissants, scones, espresso, coffees, tea and more  is located just blocks from my apartment at 7th and Willow. I’m KICKING myself for only discovering it recently.

The staff exudes a quiet, unpretentious coffee confidence and prepares each cup – stay or takeaway – with love and care. The fabulous French Press takes about 5 minutes longer (it says right on the blackboard) to make, but it is OH SO worth it. Choose from Pumpkin Spice, Toasted Almond, Tiramisu, etc. etc. etc.

My boyfriend Mike (who is on a constant quest for the perfect European-style cappuccino) has found happiness in their lovely, frothy espresso cup – paired of course with one of their dark chocolate croissants.

So you get the picture. I urge all my fellow Hobokenites to get out there and EAT and DRINK at these small businesses to help ‘em out a little after that wench Sandy came to town. Enjoy!
