If you follow TheBoken.com on Instagram you will see shots of the Jersey Shore just about every weekend. TheBoken’s editor has a shore house rental in Sea Girt and I like to take pictures of the beautiful surroundings while there and share them as appropriate. It is a short trip by train down to Sea Girt via NJ Transit train to Spring Lake from Hoboken. Doing short vacations down in that area is nothing new for Hobokenites as the the whole area of Belmar, Spring Lake, Sea Girt, and Manasquan has a large contingent of people from Hoboken. I like to refer to it as Hoboken South.
Ready to have some fun this summer Hoboken Beach goers? For “Surfside Peter Pans and Surfside Pandoras“: this location is one that can’t be beat. TheBoken.com knows of a few shares available (full share or half share) in a large summer house in Sea Girt, NJ. The interior may need a bit of TLC but you can’t beat this combination of people, cost and location! The house is historical and sometimes hysterical and otherwise known as the “Blue House” even though it is painted green. Long story behind the house but if you are looking for Hoboken South for the Summer the Spring Lake, Sea Girt Manasquan area on the Jersey Shore is pretty much it.
Here are the house features:

Are you looking to get a beach house for the summer? Here is an opportunity to get involved in a summer beach house share in the beautiful town of Sea Girt, NJ this summer…
The house in is in a great neighborhood with plenty of comforts. It was renovated 2 years ago and is a great place to spend the summer. The kitchen is huge and has a pull out sectional couch where house guests spend the mornings and pre-game swapping stories and bonding. It is also modernly equipped with, among other things, a great island and a wine frig. There are 3 flat TV’s (maybe more this yr?) with one about 46′ in the kitchen. The four bedrooms upstairs share 2 full baths and another full bath downstairs for all and the 2 bedrooms down there. No beach house is complete without an outside shower, and we have one on the deck-so a total of 4 showers for primping time.
The house is located 5 short blocks from the beach and 7 blocks from both the 2 popular bars; Parker House and Edgars. The house is just far enough from the beach to provide plenty of parking and no worry about the weekend worriers. It has a garage for bikes, scooters and beach chairs… And a full basement for storage as well as the washer and dryer. The front porch has new wicker furniture for storm watching or just enjoying the morning coffee. The back deck is partially shaded by a large pine and equipped with a BBQ and furniture.
The house is run very liberally designed for all to have a great summer; the renters mainly ask for respect to other housemates and especially the neighbors. The price will vary based on the ratio of full and half shares and should be roughly the same as last year; $3,400 for a full and$2,250 for a half. The price includes the refundable security deposit as well as all the utilities, every 2 week cleaning service and general supplies for house; paper towels, paper plates, toilet paper, soap, plastic cups, etc.
The current members range from 30 to low 40′s and are a good group of people. If you’ve never done a beach house, it is the greatest bonding experience one can have. Many of my closest friends have been formed from sharing beach houses over the last decade. Grab a friend.

MTV has announced that they are cancelling the popular reality TV Show the Jersey Shore after its 6th and final season. The show has been a cultural phenomenon regardless of your opinion of it but recently ratings have slipped a bit and Nicole Polizzi aka Snooki now is a mother. Sooner or later something had to give and the cast couldn’t keep up their hard partying way forever. Could they?
One of the destinations for Hobokenites during the summer months is the Jersey Shore. In particular the area near Spring Lake including Sea Girt, Manasquan, Belmar and Bradley Beach is popular destination for residents of Hoboken wanting to get away for a long weekend. Here is a photo of Spring Lake’s downtown business district taken earlier this summer. There are a number of boutiques and eateries on the main drag which is a walk-able distance to the shore and convenient to NJ transit train line.
Spring Lake has remote control sailboat races on the weekends in the summer time. These races are run by a group of retired men who have a club called the Marbleheaders of Spring Lake that seem to have a nice comradeship and the skills are pretty sharp to boot, or should I say Das Boot! The boats are similar in design and well crafted.
Racing takes place on the southeastern side of Spring Lake from May through October on Saturdays and Sundays with informal sailing on Wednesdays. For more information on these captains of Spring Lake go to http://www.marbleheadersofspringlake.com
TheBoken’seditor is enjoying a half share down at the Jersey Shore this summer in Sea Girt. As a result I have been taking walks around the the Sea Girt and Spring Lake are and have taken pictures of some wonderful homes in the area. Here is yet another example well out of my price range. Running hyper local websites won’t land you one of these homes that is for sure.
This photo is from Sea Girt, New Jersey which is a great getaway for Hobokenites and close to the NJ Transit Train stop in Spring Lake. This photo was taken during Memorial Day last weekend and processed through HDR.
Happy Memorial Day Hoboken and the readership of TheBoken.com. A good number of Hoboken residents headed elsewhere this weekend to points along the Jersey Shore as well as Long Island and the Hamptons and some stayed local today. This photo is shot from Sea Girt New Jersey on a sunrise with the focus on one of the American Flag’s along the boardwalk to honor the fallen that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
TheBoken’s editor has observed the large number of people who vacation down at parts of the Jersey Shore in places such as Bradley Beach, Belmar, Spring Lake, Sea Girt, Manasquan, and Point Pleasant. So much so that I prefer to call that stretch Hoboken South. The focus on this website will always remain about Hoboken but from time to time this Summer this website will put a spotlight on some of the Jersey Shore offerings.
