The City of Hoboken is hosting the 2nd Annual Hoboken Irish Festival Wednesday March 13, 2013 from 3pm-10pm as a family alternative to the all out party atmosphere of either Lepre-con or the former Hoboken Irish Parade aftermath. Details below…..

The City Of Hoboken presents

2nd Annual Hoboken Irish Festival

Wednesday March 13, 3-10pm

Food and Beverages by Anthony David’s

Hoboken Irish Festival 3-13-2013Mayor Dawn Zimmer and the City of Hoboken present a new St Patrick’s celebratory tradition, the Hoboken Irish Festival, scheduled for Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 3:00 to 10:00pm in Sinatra Park at 4th Street and Sinatra Drive.

Admission to the Festival is free. It will feature live performances by The Prodigals, Gold n’Brown, Will O’Connor, Colin Nisbet, the Jersey City Firefighters Pipe Band and more. There will be activities for entire family: step dancing, face painting, crafts, and a demo by the Hoboken Hurling Club. Acclaimed Hoboken Chef Anthony Pino and the Anthony David’s team will make festival goers’ dining choices extra special his year. Chef Pino’s On The Flipside burger shack will be present with its sizzling grills. This burger stand was a hit at the uptown Hoboken Family Farmers’ Market, and will bring a first taste of warm weather to the fest. Anthony David’s is also thrilled to be offering an eternal Irish classic at a special Fish n’ Chips station. And in the spirit of the holiday, Chef Pino’s wine bar Bin 14 will be wheeling in the beers: a beer trailer will serve Guinness, Harp and Smithwick’s.

“As longtime Hoboken residents and businesspeople, we are really excited to be contributing our efforts to this fun, family event,” says Chef Pino. “We will be sharing a portion of our proceeds with the Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund, be cause it’s important to remember that some of our neighbors are still feeling the effects of Sandy, and they need our help.”

Hoboken’s Own Skinny Chef Jennifer Iserloh Seeks Crowdfunding Support To Begin Production For Healthy Sauces

Here is a crowd funding opportunity to help a local Hoboken entrepreneur Jennifer Iserloh get her sauces into production….

Skinny Chef Jennifer Iserloh Tees Up Superfood Sauce Line

Skinny Chef Seeks Crowdfunding Support To Begin Production, Making Healthy Cooking at Home Easier and More Delicious

Jennifer Iserloh, the Skinny Chef, is readying a new line of delicious superfood sauces designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and support her commitment to natural weight loss.

Jennifer Iserloh - Hoboken's Skinny Chef with her sauces

Each of the four sauces – Goji Espresso, Cherry Chipotle, Pomegranate Cayenne and Blazin’ Blueberry – can be used with a variety of meats and vegetables for grilling, broiling, baking, marinating and finishing. At approximately 35 calories per serving and with only 40 mg sodium per 2 tablespoons, they are ideal for anyone who is pre-diabetic, needs to control their sodium intake or is on a low-carb diet. The sauces are also packed with a nutritional boost thanks to their superfood ingredients.

A certified health coach, renowned healthy cooking expert and best selling author, Iserloh is working to finance the initial production of her superfood sauce line by raising a minimum of $25,000 through the indiegogo.com crowdfunding platform. The indiegogo online platform (http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/skinny-chef-superfood-sauces) encourages individuals to collectively help entrepreneurs bring new products and businesses to life through contributions ranging from $10 to $10,000.

“We need to raise $25,000 to cover the cost of our first production run or these amazing flavors may never see the light of day. So we’re turning to our strongest supporters to ask for contributions. In exchange, we’re offering our sauces, t-shirts, healthy cooking classes and my Amazon-bestselling cookbooks, along with many other amazing VIP perks,” Iserloh explained.

All necessary licenses and permits are in place, bottling labels and designs have been established and a manufacturing facility has been selected. “All we need now are the contributions to ignite our first production run and in a few weeks we will be able to present a delicious new option to spice up kitchens and help reduce obesity in America,” she added.

Iserloh is a well-regarded expert on nutrition and natural weight loss. Her nutritional philosophy offers a gateway to a healthier lifestyle that results in permanent weight loss without painful dieting and a tedious menu of tasteless foods. She is also the author of several books including the recent Amazon bestsellers: “Healthy Cheats” and “50 Shades of Kale”.

Tasteful Tailgating Tips from Chef Anthony Pino

Here are some tasteful tailgating tips for Hoboken Football fans from Chef Anthony Pino of AD Catering | Events, Anthony Davids, Bin 14, and the Kolo Klub…..

Tailgaters

Tailgaters have always taken their pre-game drinking seriously, but are now equally serious about their pre-game eats. “You don’t just see the standard burgers and hot dogs at sporting events anymore,” stated Chef Anthony Pino of AD Catering|Events. “As you stroll through the crowds gathered at sporting events these days you will find a wide range of tailgating fare, from specialty cheeses to elaborate lobster and steak dinners.” Chef Pino knows a thing or two about pre-game entertaining; his company AD Catering|Events provides gourmet prepared food for those headed to the local Giants and Jets games at MetLife Stadium, or to those cheering on their teams with friends at home.

A tip Chef Pino offers to those planning to entertain: nothing makes a party better for host and guest alike, than to offer guests delicious items that require minimal hands-on assistance. He also gives a word of advice when prepping for pre-game entertaining. “Know your limits. If you want to have fun and enjoy your guests’ company, plan your menu using food items that can be prepared ahead of time, so all you will need to do is warm and display.”

A smorgasbord of AD Catering Events food

In addition, he and his team based in Hoboken, regularly put together a wide range of options for the local crowd who are off to outdoor events such as The Hunt in Far Hills, NJ, or are simply inspired to enjoy the fall weather and scenery with private picnics and wine tastings. Chef Pino continued, “Customers are ordering take-away platters ranging from the high end – lamb chops, filet, seafood, to the basic – sausage and peppers, sandwiches and cheese, as they head off to their fall festivities.” He smiles as he says, “What goes together better than fresh autumn air and foliage paired with good food and wine?”

For more information about AD Catering | Events call 201.222.8399. Their address is 953 Bloomfield Street Hoboken, NJ 07030.

You can follow the event on Twitter at @HBKNOktoberfest. Press release is below….

2nd Annual Hoboken Oktoberfest on October 12 and 13

Oktoberfest Will Feature Beer Garden, Music and Entertainment

and a Kids Village

October 2, 2012 – Hoboken, NJ – Earlier this month, Saints Peter & Paul Church announced the dates and times for the 2nd Annual Hoboken Oktoberfest.

Now featuring a Friday “Beer Garden Preview Night,” Hoboken Oktoberfest will start October 12 from 6 to 10 pm at 404 Hudson Street. It will continue the next day from noon until 10 pm, and in addition to the “all German” beer garden, it will feature food vendors, a DJ spinning music by day, live music by local group “Your Ex-Boyfriends” at night, various entertainment events and a kids village.

“We started Oktoberfest because Hoboken has deep German roots and Saints Peter & Paul was founded by the German community,” said Michael D’Imperio, Organizing Committee member. “We saw this as an opportunity to honor that history while bringing Hoboken together for a fun Fall event.”

D’Imperio said some of the “delicious food” Oktoberfest attendees can look forward to include:

  • “Beer-brats” prepared by Hoboken Gourmet—succulent bratwurst marinated and cooked in beer accompanied by sauerbraten
  • Fresh pierogi—a hard-to-find menu item in Hoboken!
  • Jumbo sausage and peppers delights served by a mobile gastronomic unit
  • Cannolis filled with sweet cream made to order for all dessert lovers

The kids village will also feature:

  • Moon Bounce
  • Inflatable Obstacle Course
  • Inflatable Game Tent
  • Fall arts and crafts projects like Pumpkin Painting, Sand Art & Spin Art

The Oktoberfest sponsors this year include the Hoboken University Medical Center, R Fiore Real Estate, Nash Beverage Distributors and the Hoboken Rotary Club.

“We can all be proud of Oktoberfest’s positive impact in the community. Through the efforts of the volunteers who make the event possible, Oktoberfest brings neighbors together in a fun and friendly atmosphere,” said Msgr. Robert Meyer, Esq, Pastor of Saints Peter & Paul.

Last year, close to 1,000 residents and out-of-towners visited Hoboken Oktoberfest and organizers expect twice that number to attend this years’.

Hoboken Tacos Coming Soon to 98 Willow Ave in Hoboken

Thanks to reader TheBankRobber for this tip: Hoboken Tacos is coming to 98 Willow Avenue in Hoboken soon. Not much more is known at this point but the question of the day is with the Taco Truck nearby is there enough demand for tacos in Hoboken? Perhaps the new place will carve out a new niche in Hoboken and tacos won’t go the over-saturated route of falafel in town.
