New Hoboken Online Business M2 Sweet and Chic Treats!

There is a new online Hoboken business in town called “M2 Sweet and Chic Treats”. The owner Marisa sent TheBoken this information to give her new venture a bit of a plug. If the photos are any indication of the taste I think many customers are in for a real sweet and chic treat. If the cupcakes and cakes are is good as they look Marissa just might have to rename her business to M12 as is Mmmmmmmmmmmm good. Yes, that is twelve m’s! Possible taste test next week. Here is Marisa’s intro to her new online business which in part is a byproduct of the recession the US is still trying to recover from….

“When the economy goes south and hemlines follow, what’s a girl to do?!  Well, if you’re a Fashionista with 18yrs in the biz, and MAD baking skills… you “Edit” that five-year plan, tighten your Jimmy Choos and take that leap off the runway!

Encouraged by friends, I decided to re-design my future, and went from Fashionista to Recessionista, from holiday baker to baker extraordinaire!

My label M2 sweet & chic treats combines my passion for baking and fashion with an added chic twist! We are a Hoboken business but do all of our order through our website www.msquarednyc.com so there are no lines, and even though we are web-based, I am always happy to speak with you in person!

We are known for our amzing assortment of cookies, and cupcakes, but at M2 sweet and chic treats (we can’t tell you what the M2 stands for – it’s a company secret) we do sew-sew much more! Tarts, both savory and sweet, as well as Bon-bons (seasonal) and if you don’t see something on our “Run of Show” just let us know! We can design something you like.  We also launch a new line each season – just like the Designers…whether it is “Ditzy Florals” in the Spring or “Mad-Plaids” in the Fall… we believe that food trends are just like fashion trends – they are always changing!
In fashion, we shop the world for the best fabrics, and trims…it’s the same at M2 we are dedicated to quality, assuring that our assortment is “Couture” so we bake to order using only the finest ingredients from around the world. We want our customers to feel as special eating our product as they do when they buy a great new pair of shoes, a LBD, or a hand tailored suit!

New Smartphone App: The New York Cupcake Guide

NYC Cupcake guide

Husband & Wife Team Launches Exclusive NYC Cupcake Finder and Review App for iPhone and Android

New York Cupcake Guide features 60+ New York City and New Jersey cupcake bakeries by neighborhood. Each bakery features a write-up of what makes the bakery special, plus all pertinent information like address, phone, website, prices and flavors. Many include photos as well. Other features of the app include reviews, as well as updates on a near daily basis to bring you the latest and greatest in NYC cupcake news. They also have Editor’s Picks to help you know which cupcakeries really take the cake.

New York Cupcake Guide was created by technology firm founder Eric Catania and bestselling novelist Jerrica Knight-Catania. Already enamored with two of Manhattan’s most famous cupcakeries, the couple set out on a quest to taste their way through the city’s offerings. It is their mission to help cupcake lovers find the spots that best suit their individual tastes.

"Magnolia and Crumbs are wonderful, but not everyone cares for that type of cupcake. We wanted to see what else was out there, and have truly discovered that no two cupcakes are alike," says Jerrica Knight-Catania.

Catania adds, "In conversations with friends, we started to see how polarizing cupcakes could be. Cupcake wars, indeed — people take this stuff seriously. Our app helps you find happily ever after by demonstrating there is something for everyone."

They discovered the App Store was filled with plenty of cupcake-themed games, but that no one had yet to offer any useful information about real-world bakeries. Seeing a gap in the market, the couple stepped up to the [cupcake] plate and began their quest.

The couple hopes to win over those who rage against the cupcake craze by leading them to lesser-known gems such as Duane Park Patisserie or Pinisi Bakery.

New York Cupcake Guide is available immediately for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Android devices. For more information, please visit www.nycupcakeguide.com.

How Sweet it is!

sweetlogo This past month we asked Hoboken what their favorite bakery in town was. We certainly thought that Carlos Bakery was going to run away with it due to the enormous popularity these days but all is not what it seems!

The people have spoken and this month’s Best of The Boken goes to Sweet for the best bakery in town.

If you have have not been to Sweet, get there ASAP, you will not be disappointed!

Best Cupcake in Hoboken

Here at the The Boken Online, we are fans of all things sweet. In the summer a Rita’s Italian Ice or Mr. Softee certainly hits the spot.  This time of year, however, we can’t get enough of a good old fashioned cupcake. That begs the question – which spot in town has the best cupcake?

In the aftermath of the recent success of Carlo’s Bakery (and subsequent LONG lines!), we’ve now found ourselves wandering in and out of quite a few Hoboken bake shops, in search of the best cupcake.

While we haven’t tried them all, here are a few of our favorites:

343 Garden Street
(201) 420-0111

Crumbs Bake Shop
409 Washington Street
(201) 420-8900‎

Frozen Monkey
526 Washington Street
(201) 222-1311

Which Hoboken bakery do you think whips up the best cupcake in town?
