Free Popsicle Classical Music Concert at Hudson School in Hoboken Sunday October 20 at 3pm

The latest free musical performance from the Hudson School features Pamela Ross and friends present an afternoon of POPSICAL MUSIC for the entire family, with selections from Brahms to Broadway and Bach again! The concert is at the Hudson School on Sunday October 30th at 3pm. Details are below:

Christina Bouey

Violinist Christina Bouey has been hailed by the New York Times for playing “beautifully,” by the New York Post, which wrote “when violinist Christina Bouey spun out that shimmering tune, I thought I died and went to heaven,” and by Opera News for playing “with exquisite, quivering beauty.” Among her awards and prizes are the Hugo Kortchak Award for outstanding achievement in chamber music, the Canadian National Music Festival, the Queens Concerto Competition (NYC), and the Balsam Duo Competition. Christina has performed as soloist with the Prince Edward Island Symphony, Shattered Glass in New York and the Hemenway Strings in Boston. Her solo and chamber performance credits include Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Harvard Club of New York. Christina had the privilege of playing the role of the Demonic Violinist in the musical “Heaven and Hell,” which had its world premiere at the Boston Conservatory Music Festival. She has degrees from Boston Conservatory of Music and Manhattan School of music. Christina is also a seasoned coloratura and has won many prizes for her vocal expertise.

Michael Midlarsky

Cellist Michael Midlarsky has performed extensively as a chamber musician and soloist over the course of his career. He received his Masters of Music as a Collins Distinguished Fellow from the University of Wisconsin- Madison and earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Eastman School of Music. He has won numerous awards and distinctions including the Howard Hanson and Linda van Voorhies Awards for study at the Eastman School, the National School Orchestra Soloist Award, Queens College Cultural Heritage Competition, NJ American String Teachers’ Association Competition, East Brunswick Orchestra Competition, and prizewinner in the Juilliard Pre-College Orchestra Competition. Michael has premiered many new works as well as recorded for the Naxos, Innovo, New Dynamics, Heavenly Records, and NBC labels. He has collaborated with great artists across the entire musical spectrum, from John Cale and Guy Berryman (Coldplay), to Osvaldo Golijov and Mark O’Connor. He is currently on the music faculty of the St. Ann’s School in Brooklyn.

Isabel Hagen

Violist Isabel Hagen is an active chamber musician and avid performer of new music. She is currently pursuing her Master of Music degree at the Juilliard School, where she received her Bachelor of Music degree .Isabel is co-principal violist of the Juilliard Orchestra and has performed with new music ensembles such as Alarm Will Sound, Ensemble Signal, American Contemporary Music Ensemble (ACME), and the Wordless Music Orchestra. A member of the Kleio Quartet, Isabel has appeared in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, BAM, and le Poisson Rouge. A two-time recipient of Rosemary Glyde Scholarships given by the New York Viola Society, Isabel also enjoys singing in many styles, and received vocal training while attending the pre-college division of the Juilliard School.

Pamela Ross

Pianist Pamela Ross is a Hoboken-based pianist/actress/writer whose award winning one woman shows have had long runs Off Broadway and in theatres and performing arts venues around the world. She has appeared as soloist with major orchestras and is a recording artist with several widely distributed CDs and DVDs. Many of her programs can be seen on public television, the Arts & Entertainment Television Network, and heard regularly on classical radio stations. Miss Ross has been on the faculty of several universities, and is presently teaching in the Department of Music Technology at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken. She is a member of Actors’ Equity Association, Association of Film, Television, and Recording Artists, Screen Actors’ Guild, and The Dramatists Guild. Visit her at www.pamelaross.com.

The Hudson School

The Hudson School, a small, independent school for grades 5-12 accredited by Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, was founded in 1978 by Suellen Newman. Jack Skuller to perform at Hoboken Summertime Concert July 18 at 7pm

Local musician Jack Skuller will perform the Eddie Cochran classic “Summertime Blues” at Hoboken’s Hot Tunes in the Summertime on July 18th starting at 7pm.

This event will feature popular local musicians performing and reinterpreting your favorite summer tunes. It will be like a beach party by the river.

The event will be featuring performances by: Julio Fernandez, John Bauers, Tammy Faye Starlite, Jack Skuller, Jeremy Beck, Karyn Kuhl, Gene D. Plumber, Jennifer Lampert, Dave Lambert, Alice Genese, Emily Turonis, Dave Calamoneri, Jon & Deena, The Gefkens, Lloyd United, and Tom Vincent & the Hot Tunes House Band.

The new single from 17 year old Jack Skuller – “Someone Else” is now available for FREE download on http://jackskuller.bandcamp.com/

The song was Written by Jack Skuller and produced by Bryce Goggin in Brooklyn. The track features Nada Surf drummer Ira Elliot and bassist Jeremy Chatzky.

About Jack Skuller:

17 year old Jack Skuller is equally inspired by both the Everly Brothers and the Black Keys. Jack debuted at age 14 with a rockabilly-tinged single on Bar/None records. He performed it live on Good Day New York. At 16, he toured the U.S. with Radio Disney.

The Gordys Hoboken Concert 6-27-2013

Tonight The Gordys will be playing at the City of Hoboken Summer Enchanted Evenings Concert Series. Proudly presented the City of Hoboken, these free outdoor performances are generally held Thursday evenings in the Amphitheater at Sinatra Park, located on Frank Sinatra Dr. between 4th and 5th. Note: schedules are subject to change due to weather. Some shows have rain dates and others do not.

Tonight’s show is scheduled to run from 7pm to 9pm.

Take a seat on the lawn of Pier A Park where Music Director Jacques Lacombe leads the Orchestra in a concert of light classics and popular favorites—with a patriotic flair. As night falls, the New York City skyline lights up and is reflected in the Hudson River, making this a very unique and romantic summer symphony concert destination.

The Orchestra performs selections from Bizet’s Carmen, Copland’s Rodeo and Bernstein’s West Side Story, alongside favorite tunes from Gershwin and movie classics like John Williams’ Raiders March. Patriotic tributes include “America the Beautiful” and Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” and the Orchestra honors servicemen and women with the moving Armed Forces Salute.

About the performers:

New York-based cellist Joseph Gotoff is rapidly gaining attention as one of the leading musical voices of his generation. Recent accomplishments include performances with world-renowned composer and pianist Lowell Liebermann of the composer’s own works, and well-received concerts in venues ranging from the City Museum of New York to Christie’s auction house. Currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at Mannes College studying with Barbara Stein-Mallow, Joseph studied evolutionary biology as an undergraduate at Princeton University. Previous cello teachers include Tom Kraines and the renowned pedagogue Orlando Cole, as well as chamber music studies with members of the Brentano and Juilliard string quartets. An accomplished chamber musician, Joseph has been a participant at numerous summer festivals, including Kneisel Hall and the Castleman Quartet Program.

Violinist Katherine Liccardo is finishing her Bachelor of Music degree at Mannes College of Music studying under Laurie Smukler. As the concertmaster of the Mannes Orchestra and an avid chamber musician, Katherine has performed in venues throughout the New York area such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Isaac Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, the Salvation Army Theatre, Christie’s Auction House, the Museum of the City of New York, among others. Katherine has participated in chamber music festivals around the country including the Manchester Music Festival, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival. Katherine is a certified Suzuki violin teacher and is on the faculty of the Center for Preparatory Studies in Music at Queens College. She will be starting her Master of Music degree in the Fall of 2013.

Violist Isabel Hagen is an active chamber musician and avid performer of new music. She is currently persuing her Bachelor of Music degree at the Juilliard School where she studies with Masao Kawasaki. Isabel is co-principal of the Juilliard Orchestra and performs with new music ensembles such as Signal and The Wordless Music Orchestra. Her string quartet, (the Kleio Quartet) recently performed in the Metroplolitan Museum of Art as part of the Young Arts at the Met series and was selected to participate in the 2013 Robert Mann String Quartet Institute at Manhattan School of Music. Isabel was recently chosen as alternate in Juilliard’s Don Quixote competition. She also enjoys singing and studied voice with Cynthia Sanner at Juilliard’s pre-college division from 2006-2009.

On Friday, July 26, 2013, Bob Dylan, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket will hold a concert at Pier A Park in Hoboken as part of the AmericanaramA Festival of Music tour.

Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 10:00am. In addition to online sales, 500 tickets have been set aside for sale in Hoboken at Tunes, located at 225 Washington Street. Tickets are $75.50 each, cash only, and there is a 2 ticket limit per person. Tickets at Tunes will go on sale at the same time as online sales.

Bob Dylan, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket will perform at Hoboken’s Pier A Park on Friday, July 26, 2013 as part of the AmericanaramA Festival of Music tour.

“After last year’s Mumford & Sons concert on Pier A, we received countless requests from our community for more similar events,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “We’re excited to bring world-renowned talent to Hoboken to provide great entertainment options for our community in our own back yard and to support our local businesses.”

Additional details, including ticket information, will be announced shortly.

The show is being organized by Bowery Presents, the same promoters that brought Mumford & Sons to Hoboken last year to kick off the tour for their latest album, which won the Grammy for Album of the Year.

Bob DylanBob Dylan has announced his latest tour AmericanaramA: Festival of Music tour, which he’ll be going on this summer. He’s  tapped some pretty incredible support to go along with him: Wilco and My Morning Jacket. That tour includes July 26 at Pier A Park in Hoboken, NJ! That is right, Bob Dylan is coming to Hoboken! Last year it was Mumford and Sons that rocked Pier A with over 15,000 attendees and very little in the way of police incidents and tons of additional downtown hospitality business for the Mile Square.
