Momma Mary Foundation (Cake Boss Mom) to Host Gala to Fight Lou Gherig’s Disease October 23rd

Out of a tragedy comes inspiration and a positive community response….

A new organization The Momma Mary foundation is having a fundraiser outside of Hoboken but it is related to Hoboken’s first family of cakes the Valastro Family. Mary Valastro, aka the Cake Boss’ mother has recently found out that she has Lou Gherig’s Disease and is doing something about it. Her and her son Buddy have created a foundation to raise awareness and raise money to help fight this disease. Details on the gala are below….

On October 23, 2012, Buddy Valastro and his mother Mary will be hosting their first annual Momma Mary Foundation event! Join the whole famiglia in promoting research of ALS at the first Annual gala of the Momma Mary Foundation.
Momma Mary Foundation’s 1st Annual Gala Dinner is taking place on Tuesday, October 23, 2012.
The event will be held at the Rockleigh Country Club in Rockleigh, New Jersey with an expected attendance of over 500 guests.
Mary Valastro (Momma) was recently diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) or commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Our mission is to help spread ALS awareness to the many who are uninformed and to stand by Momma.
This will give her the support she deserves during this very difficult time of her life. The Foundation is  dedicated to creating awareness about the impact caused by this disease and raising enough support to ultimately find a cure. Their  goal is to raise over $500,000. The proceeds will benefit both ALS WORLDWIDE and the University of Massachusetts ALS Champion Fund, where the Mary Valastro fund has been established.
Momma Mary has inspired all of the Valastro family to become the people we are today. She is the foundation of the family and they are so grateful to have a wonderful, strong, compassionate woman in their lives. She has shown the family how to live life to the
fullest and they want to take this moment to give back not only to her, but to everyone affected by this disease. At this time, they hope we can all come together as a community in support of this cause.

This photo was sent in from Carlo’s Bakery (Cake Boss) and is the cake that was presented at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis for the NY Giants exciting win 21-17 over the New England Patriots. Hometown hero Eli Manning and solid team play brought the Giants their 4th Super Bowl Victory. Perhaps you can have your cake and eat it too. At 11 am today in NYC will be the Canton of Heroes Parade followed up at 3pm at Giants Stadium for a celebration there.

CARLO’S BAKERY TO IMMORTALIZE GIANT’S SUPERBOWL XLVI WIN IN CAKE, CAST TO ATTEND RALLY AT STADIUM

Crowds gathering at Giant’s Stadium for today’s rally at 3pm will be treated to a sweet surprise. Carlo’s Bakery will be supplying heir final “victory cake” to celebrate the Giant’s newly minted title Super Bowl Champions of he National Football League. Carlo’s Bakery, the Hoboken bakery featured on TLC’s hit show “Cake Boss,” has made a cake for each milestone the team has achieved this season. “Cake Boss” cast members Joey Faugno, Mary Sciarrone and Mauro Castano even delivered some of their hand-crafted  creations to Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI festivities, including Taste of the NFL. Owner and “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro was not present for the big win due to a prior engagement in Australia. “I’m sad that I wasn’t at the Super Bowl this year with the rest of my team. It was an amazing game,”  said  Valastro.  Frank Amato and Mauro Castano will be presenting the Giants with the final cake of the season tomorrow at 3pm at the NY Giants new stadium which is in the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Encompassing more than 35,000 square feet, Carlo’s Bakery’s newly finished Cake Factory boasts state of the art equipment and the opportunity to bring their famous sweets to fans worldwide. Although the factory is not open for walk-­‐in retail business, owner Buddy Valastro has dreamt up new ways to bring fans and aspiring culinary enthusiasts together in his “Kitchen.” “The Kitchen,” a state of the art cooking, baking, and decorating classroom located in the heart of the Cake Factory, gives students for a behind the scenes look at the inner workings of Carlo’s Bakery in a class led by the Carlo’s team.

In January 2012, Carlo’s launched new course options for baking and decorating classes through June 2012. Cooking classes will also be added throughout January. Classes vary in difficulty and pricing begins at $125. “We had our first classes at the Cake Factory this fall. Everyone had such a good time at our fondant decorating classes that we wanted to be able to offer people more options,” said Valastro. In a new twist, guests will be able to be taught by the Valastro family themselves; you can bake with Joey, decorate with Mauro, or cook with Cousin Anthony, Frankie and the sisters. “When my family saw how much fun they were having in the classes, they decided to teach a few themselves. Tired of long lines to get your Carlo’s Bakery treats for the holidays? Carlo’s bakery has a way to help you expedite your pickup of baked goods by allowing customers to order online and then skip the line when picking up goods. Below is their press release promising making ordering with them “easy as pie” . Not my puns, theirs.

HOBOKEN BAKERY TACKLES LONG LINES, OFFERS ONLINE ORDERING FOR STORE PICKUPS

Since 2009, Carlo’s Bakery has been the center stage for the hit TLC reality series “CakeBoss.” The show has inspired fans to visit the flagship Hoboken store to take a peek at the famous bakery, resulting in patrons waiting 40 minutes or longer to enter the shop.

Owner Buddy Valastro has been working to create new ways to serve loyal customers, both new and old.
“Carlo’s was a Hoboken landmark for almost 100 years before we were on television, and I’ve been working hard to find a way to better meet everyone’s needs.”

Valastro has launched an online program to make it “easy as pie” for all customers to pick up their holiday treats;  everyone can preorder their selections at www.carlosbakery.com/pickup and “skip the line” when arriving at the store. He adds, “we don’t want to isolate anyone that cannot wait in line to browse  our stock for that day. I want to make it easy for everyone to bring home pies and cakes to their families this holiday season. By ordering online, everyone knows what we have to offer.”

Current products include trays of biscotti, rugelach, or butter cookies, and holiday staples such as pecan, apple, pumpkin, coconut custard, blueberry pie, and more. In store pick up dates can be scheduled December 19-­‐24, 2011 from 7am-­‐8pm. Plans to expand the website preordering are in works.
