Anthony David’s One Week Makeover and Expanded Hours 7 days a Week 7am–10:30pm

To celebrate their 15th anniversary in Hoboken at 953 Bloomfield Street (corner of 11th St)  Chef Anthony Pino decided to renovate his restaurant and re-opened with a new look last week.  The space has  been refreshed with clean, modern lines, red tiles and handcrafted wood tables. The amazing part is this was done in just one week to minimize impact to the customers and restaurant in terms of revenue.  Now, this very popular restaurant will be known simply as Anthony David’s and much like the Trattorias Chef Pino visited on a recent trip to Italy, it will be open all day, to serve the neighborhood anything from coffee, breakfast, a small bite, to a full dinner.

Anthony David's Hoboken

Here are the new hours (7 days a week):

  • 7:00-9:00am, take-out coffee and pastries
  • 9:00am to 3:00pm, take-out breakfast, sandwiches, and daily Brunch in the restaurant ‘
  • 3:00pm to 5pm, a new Antipasto menu (also available during Brunch and as part of Dinner menu)
  • 5:00pm to 10:30pm, Dinner 7 nights a week, including Mondays.

Anthony David’s opened its doors at the charming corner of Tenth and Bloomfield Streets in Hoboken in 1997, not long after entrepreneurial Chef Pino graduated from Johnson & Wales. A bustling business in quality prepared foods led to a sellout daily brunch service that continues to this day, along with full-service catering arm AD Catering|Events. In 2002, in an expanded space, The Dining Room at Anthony David’s began its run as Hoboken’s favorite location for intimate dinners and special occasions.
As Chef Pino looks ahead to his next 15 years of business in his hometown,he is thrilled to introduce a new Anthony David’s to Hoboken, all under the simple name, Anthony David’s. His inspiration comes in part from the Trattorias Chef Pino  visited in Italy: traditionally less formal spots for neighborhood dining, for a coffee, or a snack, to purchase food to go; a  go to spot for any time of the day or evening.

In this vein, Anthony David’s is now open for dinner seven days a week, including Mondays, and will serve a light Antipasto menu before dinner service, from 3:00 to 5:00pm (also available during brunch and dinner service). The Antipasto menu offers value and flavor: Market Vegetables (butternut squash and honey, roasted fennel and olives); Artisan Cheese (Taleggio, Robiola, Cacio Pecorino, and more); Cured Meats (Trufaseca sausage, smoked duck, and Prosciutto de Parma from the new Italian slicer). Guests can choose 4 for $20, 5 for $25 or share 6 for $30. Rilettes (rabbit, chicken liver, pork belly, lardo) are also available. Antipasto is also a casual, to be shared element of Anthony David’s dinner menu, now served 7 days a week.

Anthony David's Hoboken - Meat clicer

Chef Pino’s new inspiration makes evenings more relaxed and inviting here: with seasonal Autumn Panzanella (roast chicken, focaccia, butternut, shaved Brussels); hearty pastas like 3 Pork Gravy (cream, English peas, Pecorino, Cavatelli) and Wild Boar Ragu (Cipolinis, Pappardelle, Parmesan); or entrées like Pesce di Oggi (line caught  and  Autumn inspired) or House Lamb Sausage (truffle potatoes, Bijou farm green grown on a nearby rooftop).

Anthony David’s 7-day, all-day brunch will continue to serve its myriad selection of Eggs Benedicts along with other favorites.  Meat and Cheese Baguettes, available in the updated to go menu, also include desirable choices from the Antipasto menu.

The Anthony David’s space itself has morphed from its cozy market feel to a sleek, chic space with clean modern lines, designed  by architect Robert Feinstein of Studio One Architects, who also built Chef Pino’s striking Bin 14 wine bar. Muted dark grays and whites, warmly lit, are enlivened by bright red tiles. An extended marble dining counter for barista and antipasto service will feature the Berkel vertical prosciutto slicer that Chef Pino  purchased in Sorrento. Guests wanting to sip a quick espresso will favor a high table in the bay window facing 11th  Street. Simple wood tables are unadorned with linens, and the always knowledgeable staff will sport a coordinated new look too.The new Anthony David’s brings a welcoming, everyday Trattoria feeling to a fresh new space in the heart of Hoboken.

Kolo Klub of Hoboken Grand Opening Party Recap and Information

Chef Anthony Pino

Last night the founding partners of the Kolo Klub, Hoboken’s latest catering hall, had an invite only Grand Opening party for friends and the members of the press. Attendees from the press and local media included Hoboken Patch, Hoboken Girl, Eat Drink New Jersey, and TheBoken.com with no presence from the self-proclaimed “most complete website about Hoboken”. Perhaps the cyber recluse webmaster wasn’t invited. I know for sure he wasn’t missed.

Complimentary drink and appetizers were provided and members of the new Kolo Klub organization git up and said a few words about the venture including Chef Anthony Pino pictured above. The event went from 6-12pm and those in attendance had a nice time. There was a magician who did some very neat tricks including bending a quarter just by concentrating. He had a variety of impressive tricks so don’t be surprised to see a magic show at this venue at some point.

A very capable and talented jazz band also provided some swank background ambiance. From this editor’s eye the place looks great and has an older European era feel about it. I place the mood of the decor  in the 1930′s.

The Kolo Klub is located on the 2nd floor at 1422 Grand Street which is one floor above Hoboken’s popular beer garden Pilsenser Haus and Biergarten. Below are some photos from last night’s grand opening and more information about the new catering hall.

Chef Anthony Pino & AD Catering|Events Partner with
Pilsener Haus to Launch Kolo Klub, a Stellar Catered Event Space in Hoboken

Acclaimed chef and restaurateur Anthony Pino and Pilsener Haus & Biergarten owners Andrej Ivanov and Ladislav Sebestyan are thrilled to announce a new partnership between AD Catering|Events and Pilsener Haus, the Kolo Klub.  New Jersey’s newest event space,  Kolo Klub will be available for bookings beginning July2012, and is located on the second floor of 1422 Grand Street in Hoboken (and online at www.koloklub.com).

Chef Pino, his spouse and business partner Liz Pino, and the team at AD Catering|Events, headed by Director of Operations Vince Crysler, are unique amongst caterers in that they help individuals and companies plan every conceivable detail of their events especially weddings from start to finish: not just menu development, but staff and service, linens, table top and rentals. Every event is distinguished by culinary excellence, and is executed with operational brilliance—from intimate gatherings to a large gala.

The Kolo Klub partnership is special because it brings an exclusive culinary and guest services provider, the Chef and team renowned for Hoboken’s Bin 14 and The Dining Room, to one breath taking loft space. Located on the2nd floor of the turn of the century building that now houses the enormously popular Biergarten, this artfully renovated 4,000 square foot loft will be available beginning July for private catered events of 25 to almost 200 guests. Jennifer Lampert of Pilsener Haus will be the in house events coordinator.

Guests will access the foyer of Kolo Klub via a private elevator, and enter the airy, expansive dining and eventshall, with it hand made vaulted wood ceiling and rows of windows on its north and east sides with a view of the Empire State  Building. The spacious bar is backed by handcrafted green, white and gold tile.  Period lighting and architectural details like portable subdividing screens have been incorporated into a subtle and flexible design by Jirka Kolar Interiors, the same team that brought period authenticity to life at Pilsener Haus.  The Kolar and Pilsener Haus team jointly created Kolo Klub’s namesake logo; the kolo their native Czech word for bicycle and its whimsical rider evoke a playful sense of fun and creativity that will inspire events held in the space. There will also be a plush 30 seat private screening room available for guests.

Andy Ivanov, a founder of Brooklyn’s Radegast Hall, and part of the team that created Pilsener Haus and conceived Kolo Klub, states,“We  couldn’t think of a better partner to create events in this space. The acclaim Chef  Pino and his AD team have received, not to mention the reputation that their Hoboken restaurants enjoy, will make Kolo Klub a culinary and celebratory destination.”“Now we have a home,” says Chef Pino.“We intend to make Kolo Klub a place for unforgettable gatherings.
