Today’s photo of the day is of a Santa window decoration at 1Republik on Washington Street in Hoboken, NJ. Regardless of your religious persuasion this sets the holiday mood and shows the talent of the whoever the artist was that painted this. The style reminds me of the window painting at the former clothing store Serenity at 8th and Washington Street. Maybe a Chanukah menora or a holiday painting featuring Festivus is in store next.
1Republik located at 221 Washington Street in Hoboken is having a Customer Appreciation night tonight November 26th from 7-9pm to celebrate their 2nd Year Anniversary. All proceeds will be donated to the Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund. For more about this sports bard and restaurant go to www.1republik.com.
Last night the New York Giants led by hometown hero Eli Manning bested the New England Patriots in a close game by the score of 21-17. Once again Eli Manning drove down the field in the 4th quarter to lead the Giants to the game winning drive in an eerily similar fashion to Super Bowl XLII just 4 years ago when they last won the big game. Hoboken’s bars, especially the downtown ones were jammed for the big game. Washington Street was a sign of jubilation and some of the bars such as 1Republik and Black Bear still has lines outside even after the game had ended.
Once again congratulations to the New York Giants and their improbable run to another NFL Championship. Do you think this second Super Bowl win makes Eli Manning a Hall of Fame quarterback? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
Below is some video footage TheBoken.com took last of the spontaneous celebration in Hoboken on Washington Street. Football fans were pumped. Hopefully not too many people were counting on an early night’s rest last night. Anyone living on Washington Street or 1st Street probably heard pretty well the joyful commotion.
Today’s photo of the day is of the Red Bull Car in Hoboken outside 1Republik last night. According to some bartenders I know they hate serving Red Bull and vodka since it keeps drunk people drinking beyond the point where they should. I guess as long as they tip well the bartenders can live with it. Do you think Red Bull and Vodka can lead to bar fights or is it just the type of person that happens to drink it that is the root cause of Red Bull pugilism (propensity to fight) ? Reader Jessica sent this photo of her and her friend Watching the games at one of Hoboken’s busy sports bars on Sunday, 1Republik. They are seen here posing with Hoboken’s very own Batman and Robin, who have been getting around town quite a bit as of late.

Monday Night at 1Republik in Hoboken is Lobster Bake Night. The guy on the left was handing out fliers last week bythe PATH station to promote this food special. $13.95 for Lobster, clams, mussels, corn on the cob, potatoes and sausage sounds like a deal to me.
For some reason TheBoken now has the B52′s song “rock Lobster” in its head. If you are up for lobster tonight check it out and leave your feedback in the comments below.
