There is now scaffolding around new fitness center Planet Fitness in Hoboken located between 6th and 7th Street on Washington Street although this older photo does not indicate it. It looks like the modifications to get final inspection have taken longer than management expected as indicated in the customer letter shown below. Their new tentative target date is now no later than February 7th according to their Regional Manager Mark Sajdak. The good news is that they will not bill until March 17th. This is a good way for a business to show customers that they are trying to make good on the delay. They will not be able to open until they get the CO (Certificate of Occupancy) and final inspections. Below is the letter to customers which reads very apologetic…

Dear [Customer],

Due to town requirements, Planet Fitness Hoboken’s opening will be delayed longer than expected.  While we do not yet have a definitive date, we can assure you that we will be open no later than February 7th.

Any members billed for January will receive a refund.  In addition,we will be postponing everyone’s first billing until Mar. 17, 2012, though again, we will be fully operational by Feb. 7.  The free time is our thank you for your understanding.  You may continue to use any of our open facilities, without charge, and we will notify you via email as soon as we’re open.

We would like you to know that we’ve never missed a targeted opening date before, and that this is not how we conduct our business.  We had every intention of opening the club on time as promised, right up to the last minute, and deeply regret failing to do so.  We take our members trust in us very seriously and work hard to keep it.  We think you’ll see that when we open our doors.  Thank you again for your patience.
