Fashionistas with a propensity to party should mark your calendars for the Nomad Truck’s Grand Opening Party at the Village Pourhouse in Hoboken on April 13th from 11am-4pm. Details are below….

Nomad Truck Hoboken Grand opening at Village Pourhouse 4-13-2013
Mobile Fashion Truck to Launch in Greater NYC Area – Boutique Brings Haute Wheels to Hoboken in April

Nomad, the mobile retail boutique, today announced that after four months of construction and almost a year of planning, it will hit the road and roll up its doors on April 13th, 2013, with a grand opening celebration outside of the Village Pourhouse located at 205 1st Street  in Hoboken, NJ. The launch party will run from 11am – 4pm and will offer drink specials at the Village Pourhouse for Nomad customers.

The carefully curated mobile fashion boutique offers trendy ladies’ fashions for under $100. All inventory is handpicked by Jessie Goldenberg, founder and CEO, who established Nomad after observing the overwhelming success of the food truck industry and the growing trend of pop-up shops.

Nomad will showcase handmade and local designers, many of which Goldenberg found via Etsy.com and through her experience vending under the Nomad banner in more traditional booth set-ups since early January. Some of the fashions already on board include beaded stacker bracelets by NYC based Harmony L, minimalist mixed-metal pieces by local Hoboken favorite hbkco., and flowy printed tops by Ya Los Angeles and Mono B.

“I want to build a (mobile) place where my customers – young, creative women – can have fun shopping without breaking the bank,” says Goldenberg, “A place that is convenient and affordable, inspiring and intimate. And of course there should be good music.”

Goldenberg, a filmmaker turned full-time fashionista, graduated from NYU Tisch with a slew of production credits under her belt and a whirlwind of ideas in her head. With Nomad, Goldenberg seeks to combine her artistic eye and love of travel to create a fun and novel shopping experience for customers in the region.

While Nomad will be parked primarily in Hoboken, NJ, this mobile retail boutique will offer private party services, visit local colleges, and vend at NYC Flea Markets and street fairs. Locations for the upcoming week will be posted on the website and advertised via social media.

For more information, or to book a private event with the truck, visit www.thenomadtruck.com.

About the Nomad Truck

Nomad operates out of the back of a 24’ long renovated stepvan with roughly 100 square feet of shopping space. The rear door rolls up, steps are attached, and viola – it’s transformed into a carefully curated boutique adorned with racks of trendy ladies’ fashions, accessories, and jewelry. Nomad showcases the work of local designers and artisans, and offers a wide selection of handmade, one-of-a-kind merchandise.

Little Town, NJ Restaurant Set to Open Early to Mid April in Hoboken

The concept of farm to table is a promising environmental and economic trend where as much as possible, food and drink is bought from local producers which benefits local farmers and businesses and is good for the environment as well due to decrease in food transport. The upcoming Little Town NJ restaurant, located at the former Quays on Hoboken’s waterfront is poised to capitalize on that. Along with the fame of Albie and Chris Manzo and the expertise of the Village Pourhouse ownership, this has the potential to be a successful and different Hoboken restaurant offering….

Coming Soon Little Town NJ Restaurant Hoboken 3-8-2013

Little Town, NJ is the 3rd location planned of the popular contemporary NYC eatery from restaurateurs Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr. Little Town NJ plans to authentically bring the “Little Town” concept of locally sourced food and drink to Hoboken, with an extensive selection of local beers on tap (from breweries in Fairfield and Ocean County, Atlantic Highlands and Roselle Park among others) and classic American comfort favorites. Alongside regional Jersey specialties on the menu, Little Town NJ combines its approachable neighborhood-driven hospitality with the reality star power of Albie & Chris Manzo from The Real Housewives of New Jersey to give the new space a decidedly original New Jersey flair.

In addition to serving lunch and dinner, Little Town NJ will offer a farm-to-table brunch buffet on weekends and Sunday Gravy with recipes from the Manzo’s mother Caroline.

The inviting space was crafted with its own farmer’s market area, where local farmers and purveyors will display and discuss their produce, which will also be featured in menu items.

Taking its inspiration from local Jersey ingredients and specialties, Little Town NJ will serve a spirited selection of American comfort classics. From small plates such as Char-grilled Cape May Oysters (from Cape May Salt) with Savory Gorgonzola Butter; Little Town Rice Balls stuffed with NJ Taylor Ham and Cheese; and Fried “Mutz”-breaded and fried freshly pulled local Mozzarella served with spicy Jersey Tomato Marinara, to heartier options like the East Hanover Dog, a classic Italian Hotdog wrapped in locally-baked Pizza Crust and stuffed with Sautéed Peppers, Onions and Crispy Potatoes; or the Short Hills Joe, a NJ deli-style Sloppy Joe of Roast Beef or Turkey with Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing on fresh Rye and six varieties of cheeses on the menu from Valley Shepherd Creamery in Long Valley, guests will find an American comfort food menu that pairs perfectly with the bar’s extensive selection of local craft beers.

Let the Hunger/Bar Games Begin! Hoboken Bar Games Roundup by the DPB

“Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.”

Chances are some or most of you will know that is the motto of the Hunger Games, the novel turned movie blockbuster.  I admit I read all 3 books in the trilogy and they’re pretty good.  So this past Saturday morning I saw the Hunger Games in IMAX.  It got me thinking…what are the coolest bar games in Hoboken?  Well it took some serious research and web browsing, but here is my official list.  Important caveat – this list is certainly not 100% complete and I will miss a pool table here or dart board here.  Let’s face it – there are over 50 bars in Hoboken so if I missed something please add it in the comments.  The goal is to keep this list ongoing and current for everyone.

Below is a “best of” list for the major games and then the full list below…

Rack ‘Em Up! (pool tables)

  • DC’s – It’s a small bar and the pool table takes up most of the bar.  But this looks like a place you should be playing pool
  • Mulligans – Just one pool table, but it’s in the backroom with lots of space
  • Willow Billards – It’s a pool hall.  Need I say more? (Rumor is it is closing. Open one day and then bam! Like a pool stick to the head, no more pool?)

Bullseye! (Darts)

  • Shannon – Multiple dart boards in the back room and regular leagues.
  • Cork City – Two dart boards in the back of the bar with ample room and lighting.
  • 8th Street Tavern - They have a Tuesday darts league and steady stream of dart players on other nights.

Buzz! (Trivia)

  • Wicked Wolf – Wednesday night trivia.  Good questions, big teams, fun prizes
  • Mikie Squared – Smaller groups, but still fun team trivia.
  • Marty O’Briens – Themed trivia on television shows and movies.
  • Willie McBride’s - Trivia with Big Brother Star Adam Poch every Wednesday.

That’s a 3-Pointer! (Buck Hunter)

  • Cork City – Right as you walk in.  Where my obsession with the game started…
  • 8th Street Tavern- They have the game too. Get in touch with your inner redneck and down some PBRs while shooting.

Bazinga! (Specialty Category)

  • Bingo at Black Bear – Paired with their burger special it’s a fun way to spend your Wednesday
  • Shuffleboard at Coopers Union – Only table in town and well worth it
  • Everything at Willie McBride’s – They have arcade games, a poker night and mega touch
  • Beer Pong at Scotland Yard – 3-4 beer pong tables.  Come in buzzed, leave drunk…

How about it readers – where are you favorite game spots/what did I miss?

Me Hungry? No way! This Polar Bear is skipping the veggies today!
