Hoboken’s very own Artie Lange recently made an appearance on the Showtime Cable Series “Californication”. This show which premiered in 2007 is about a hedonistic writer Hank Moody, an LA based novelist plagued by personal demons. Hank continually deals with the consequences of his inability to say “no” to drugs, sex, and alcohol while trying to show his family that he can be a good, responsible, caring father to daughter and a monogamous partner to his long time flame. For those not faint of heart in terms of over the top sexual humor, the show can be quite funny and is always risque.
Artie appears in Season 6 episode 3 in a scene at a rehab center which focuses on drug and alcohol addiction and Arte’s character adds his addiction to the mix food. His role in the scene is quite funny as he chokes on his food during his dialogue. One wonders how close truth is to fiction in this case given Artie’s publicly known battles with alcohol and food addiction. Is this merely acting or reality TV? We wish Artie all the bets as he struggles with these issues.
A short video clip with Artie Lange is shown below (pardon the commercial):
MTV has announced that they are cancelling the popular reality TV Show the Jersey Shore after its 6th and final season. The show has been a cultural phenomenon regardless of your opinion of it but recently ratings have slipped a bit and Nicole Polizzi aka Snooki now is a mother. Sooner or later something had to give and the cast couldn’t keep up their hard partying way forever. Could they?

Snooki and Jwoww Coming to Hoboken Soon. Good for town or bad?
This week, producers with MTV have been blanketing Hoboken retail stores and restaurants with paperwork asking if local businesses would like to be part of the show which is untitled at the moment. The show which is entitled for now “Snooki & Jwoww untitled” is asking local merchants to use their places of business for filming.
Unlike other shows which are filmed in Hoboken that show off the good side of Hoboken like the Cake Boss, local merchants have been coming out of the woodwork and staying they’re not interested in the show being filmed at their businesses. Some merchants fear that businesses will be depicted in the negative light and make local businesses look bad.
Many Hoboken residents also feel the shooting of the show In Hoboken may create a mob of out of town lovers of the Jersey Shore, filling the sidewalks and streets with fans and extra cars. Some, self included feel it could potentially be a safety concern filming he show in the community.
The date to start production is unknown at this time.
What do you think? Is this potential show good for the Hoboken community or will it possibly depict us as a laughable city like the Jersey Shore has done for communities along the Jersey shore?
