“THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT at the Turtle Club I was scheduled to play my monthly Acoustic Show. After that Big Bitch Sandy caused all this damage and suffering to our beloved Hoboken, I felt it only right to invite some of my musician friends to join me for a fun night of Music and raise some money for a great cause! Its the least I can do, and I am happy to have the forum to do it.
We will be collecting donations at the door. Suggested Donation $20. No donation is too little, or too big! We will give all proceeds to the ‘Rebuild Hoboken Relief Fund’
Joining me on the bill will be some amazingly talented local musicians, including Johnny Miller, Tommy Ritter, Kieran Sullivan and Your Ex-Boyfriends! Plus other guests jamming with me throughout the night.
Also, the Turtle Club will have their Wednesday Night Endless Happy Hour Bar Specials going all night long! I am extremely excited to be able to put together this event, and hope to see a lot of you in attendance Wednesday Night!”
Here is a note From Rory Chadwick on tonight’s fundraiser for the Hoboken Charter School at the Turtle Club….
Regardless of the rain threat this evening, our fundraiser for the Hoboken Charter School is going to happen. Tonight from 6pm-10pm at both the Turtle Club and 10th and Willow. Our motto is Rotary is “Service Above Self”. We’re asking all of the Hoboken community and the surrounding communities to adopt our motto just for tonight and come out to support the kids, teachers and the school, even if mother nature has a few tricks up her sleeve.
The West Five Supper Club has donated their courtesy shuttle for use tonight from 6pm-10:30pm. The public can call 201-665-9667 between the hours of 6pm and 10:30pm tonight and be picked up by the shuttle, the shuttle will operate in Hoboken only. We are asking residents that live in large residential buildings to come together in the van, rather than call on an as needed basis to help alleviate the demand for the courtesy shuttle.
We have over 70 items for our silent auction/raffle and complimentary food has been donated for the night by Hoboken eateries Anthony David’s, East LA, The Madison, Liberty Bar, The Tilted Kilt, Trinity, The Village Pourhouse, Ben and Jerry’s, Carlo’s Bakery, The Little Grocer and Biggie’s Clam Bar.
Some of the auction items include 3 NY Giants Tickets vs Cleveland Brown in October, tickets are in section 111 in the player family seating area, Eli Manning signed Football, Eli Manning Signed Jersey, Victor Cruz Signed Jersey, NJ Devils signed Item, Signed guitars, Signed baseballs from NY Yankees and other teams, Lunch with Mayor Dawn Zimmer, Massages for 1 year and many more!! Raffle prizes will be various git cards to local store and restaurants, artwork, Dunkin Donuts items, gift baskets and so much more.
Any donation at the door for entry at either venue and each person that donates $10 or more will receive a free drink ticket. Cash, checks and credit cards accepted throughout the night.
It’s getting warmer and summer is right around the corner. We’ve slowly inched up the thermometer to shorts and hoodie weather (the best time of year). Living in Hoboken, warmer weather brings us beautiful tree-lined streets, waterfront walkways, plenty of parks and outdoor seating any many bars and restaurants. After many years in Hoboken, I’ve amassed some best practices to dinning and drinking outside in Hoboken. I’m sure I will miss a thing or two so please add to it in the comments below.
(Editorial note: unlike other local blogs, I promise not to launch into a low carb induced childish diatribe on why the city doesn’t let bars/restaurants open outdoor seating before April 1st. Normally, it’s very cold between Dec 1st and April 1st so it’s not worth the pixels. And it’s spring – be happy!)
In no way is this a comprehensive list, but here a few good places to sit outside by area:
- Uptown – City Bisto, Pilsener Haus, Bin 14, Liberty Bar, Madison
- Midtown – Elysian, Turtle Club, Mikie Squared, Stacks, East LA, Far Side, O’ Sullivans
- Downtown – Brass Rail, McSwiggans, 1 Republik, Texas Arizona, Marty O’Briens, Dubliner, 4L’s
- Waterfront – 340 Grill, Quays, Trinity, Wicked Wolf
Where’s your favorite bar/restaurant to each outside? Any other tips?

Below is a release for a blind tasting event from the Woman of Wine Sense at the Turtle Club the last day of the month this February…
For February we wanted to get back to our roots as a wine education group and offer a blind tasting event.
So you think you’re a wine expert with the palate of Robert Parker? We’ll see about that! Over the course of the evening you will be presented with 4 pairs of wines. Each pair will be the same grape variety. As a side note, it is always a grape variety, and a wine made from a single grape variety is known as a varietal wine. See the education never ends! It will be up to you to determine the grape and the price point of the wine.
This is a unique opportunity to explore your palate, figure out what wine works for you and what you are truly looking for in a wine. With the focus on fun and education we will be covering each pair and providing tasting sheets, notes and regional information on all the wines. Light appetizers will be served.
When: Wednesday , February 29th 7-9pm
Where: The Turtle Club 936 Park Ave. Hoboken NJ 07030
Price: $25 Members and for $35 Non-Members
If you attend the event as as non member and decide you want to join within 48hrs of the event (which everyone should!) you will be refunded the $10 difference in ticket price.
Please register by using the link below. Registration will close on the 27th so get in there early! Click Here To Register
