Washington Street Shuffle – Cigar Tobacco Warehouse coming to 614 Washington Street in Hoboken

Cigar Tobacco Warehouse 614 Washington Street Hoboken NJ

The former site of Ibby’s Falafel at 614 Washington Street appears to be switching business type and adding yet another cigar store to Hoboken, NJ. The permits on the door say the new owner of the upcoming establishment is Cigar Tobacco Warehouse. They recently received a large shipment pictured on the bottom left of the photo above.

We once had a short lived Falafel frenzy, is opening a cigar shop going to be the next Hoboken retail trend? Here is wishing them luck as they try to take on Hoboken one luxurious and refined puff at a time.

Holy Strollers – Baby Gap Coming to Hoboken – Washington Street Shuffle Continues

According to signage a Baby Gap is apparently coming to Hoboken’s Washington Street soon. Construction is underway at 220 Washington Street and it appears another chain is coming to Hoboken in addition to Anthropologie. It will be interesting to see how this impacts the other baby themed stores in the Mile Square. With more and more young and in some cases older couples having children it was a matter of time before some baby related chain would try and make a go of it in Hoboken. Parents are staying in Hoboken longer after their first child than say a decade ago so it would seem on paper this is a potentially profitable chain store. Still, with Hoboken’s high rents that is a lot of baby booties to sell to make a buck.

Style Square Coming to 730 Washington Street in Hoboken Soon

Style Kuan - Style Square Hoboken 2

There appears to be a new fashion related store named Style Square coming to 730 Washington Street in Hoboken, NJ. The LLC that is behind it is Style Khan LLC and they have a permit for new exterior lighting. It is a matter of time until we have another fashion related retail store on Washington Street.

Photo of the Day–Anthropologie Construction at 420 Washington Street Hoboken

Anthropologie Construction - 420 Wahington Street Hoboken

Today’s Photo of the Day is of the Anthropologie construction at 420 Washington Street Hoboken. Perhaps no other retailer will have as much on the shopping landscape in Hoboken than the opening of this mega store. It remains to be seen what the impact this store will have on other boutiques in Hoboken but one thing is for sure they have buying power and if they want a vendor exclusively within a zip code, the general rule is they will get their way due to high volume. Will this be the first of many other chains to come to Hoboken? We will have to wait and see but a limiting factor would be the dearth of very large retail spaces in Hoboken.

Ho Ho Ho 4 Hoboken! Santa Claus Day, an Eat, Drink, Shop Hoboken Citywide Event! Saturday December 22nd 2pm-9pm

I am organizing the following event this Saturday to help the Hoboken retail and Hospitality sector in the wake of Hurricane Sandy….

Ho Ho Ho 4 Hoboken! Santa Claus Day, an Eat, Drink, Shop Hoboken Citywide Event!

Saturday December 22nd, 2pm -9pm

Ho Ho Ho Hoboken Promo

Ho Ho Ho 4 Hoboken is a community coming together for a fun filled day of eating, shopping and drinking. Rather than have a crawl, were going to expand the day to incorporate specials from not just certain bars. Every bar, restaurant and retail store can send in their specials to the organizers so that everyone can participate. Patronizing the entire Hoboken business community versus having a short list of bars to go to will benefit every business just before Christmas arrives. Shortly, a website will go live and it will be updated daily to show you the specials.

It is free to attend and you can choose to get dressed up, or you can come just as you are. It is a day to patronize the entire community. Hoboken, having been badly devastated by Hurricane Sandy needs local business more than ever before. To help make our community better and stronger sooner rather than later. Bracelets are free and can be picked up that day of the event at several locations.

Again, this is open to any business in Hoboken that wants to participate. In the wake of Sandy, every business in town needs your financial support, so as a community we should visit everyone and not just certain places. So many great landmark businesses are on the verge of losing everything, so many business owners have massive out of pocket costs. Far too many residents lost everything and have no place to call home, they are homeless. As the amazing Hoboken community that we are, we will Ho Ho Ho 4 Hoboken on Saturday, December 22nd and while we spread $$ to the awesome businesses of Hoboken, NJ we are also raising money for our friends, businesses and colleagues in need. Registration locations to date are The Madison and Black Bear.

It will be a great day! Please remember that while we’re all out to have a good time and raise money for www.rebuildhoboken.org, we do need to respect our neighbors and community. Please drink responsibly and have a good time :) For further information or detail please send messages through this page or post your questions. Together, as a Hoboken community we can have a fun time and make a huge difference.

To RSVP to this event go to the event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/492787114085670/

Anastasia’s Accessories in Hoboken Going Out of Business Sale – 30% off

Anastasia’s Accessories, established in 1989 in Hoboken, N.J is unfortunately going out of business. Hurricane Sandy apparently packed too big of a punch for this Hoboken business that lasted 24 years. Here is their note below…

“We are sad to announce that Anastasia’s Accessories sustained significant damage from Hurricane Sandy.
While we managed to save most of our merchandise, our losses were great. Our front door, some inventory, our counter, cabinets, flooring, supplies, furniture, and fixtures were all destroyed or damaged.

Having only rebuilt a year ago from flooding as a result of Hurricane Irene, this time we have decided not to rebuild.

We have had the extreme pleasure of helping you and your friends and family shop for many beautiful items over 24 years and we are offering you one last chance to do so. We are open for business for just a few weeks to liquidate our inventory and display items. Please visit the store, make your final purchases, talk over old times and help us to celebrate 24 amazing years!”

Below is the going out of business sales flier….
