Spring is finally here in Hoboken. This HDR photo was taken up by Maxwell Place. When the flowers start blooming and the weather warms up a bit I enjoy to get outside and walking around Hoboken even more to see the scenery.

Today’s Hoboken photo of the day captures a Norwegian cruise ship passing by Maxwell Place Park in Hoboken, NJ this weekend. This is an HDR photo but more photorealistic than artistic in terms of the tone mapping and processing.
On Wednesday November 21st, Marc Anthony Photography will be shooting free family portraits at Pier A on 100 Sinatra Drive in Hoboken, NJ. He will be there from 9am to 4pm. Any family affected by Hurricane Sandy is free to come and have their photo taken. The images will be placed online for you to freely download and print.
Marc Anthony adds”
“I am shooting these portraits simply as my little way to do something. New Jersey is my home and my heart breaks for those that lost everything. Homes can be rebuilt but photos can’t be replaced. That’s why when I fire happens in a home photos are usually the first thing people try and save. I’m not in this for any personal reason. I shoot weddings and I’m busy enough as it is to use this for personal gain. I just want to make that clear. So if you want a free photo taken to mark the start of something new then please come by.”

On Sunday May 6th, Photo Adventure Trading used some of the Photos from our Photo of the Day series to paint a black and white backdrop for their photo booth that ran from 11-6pm at the festival that day. They used photo from Mario’s Pizza, Hoboken City Hall, 1st Street Barbershop, and Empire Coffee and Tea as well as others. Nothing like a bit of free advertising for TheBoken.com as well as the featured businesses. I would like to thank Anastacia form Photo Adventure Trading for reaching out to us and helping spread the good new about our website and Hoboken’s great photo graphic landmarks. As editor of this website, I was more than happy to share my photographic perspective and glad to see she could put those photos to good use.

“Our Springtime celebration photo booth was colorful and fun! We were thrilled to participate in the Hoboken Spring Art and Music Festival with this one-of-a-kind photo booth.
Thanks to Kurt from TheBoken.com, whose Photo of the Day series inspired our hand-painted backdrop.
We hope you enjoy your photos as much as we enjoyed taking them!”

TheBoken.com went to Empire Coffee and Tea located at 338 Bloomfield Street in Sunday around 4pm to enjoy the weather and is typical on a weekend walk I ran into several people I know. The coffee shop was very busy and they already had their outdoor seating out to take advantage of the great weather. TheBoken.com is glad to see an independent coffee shop and café doing brisk business in Hoboken. The photo above again uses HDR and I wanted to experiment with saturation of color to really make this cute little coffee shop stand out with some pop. There is no way in the real world that things would be so bright. The same photo below is shown with a cloth effect.
And finally, below is a truer rendition of the colors of the coffee and tea shop in case in your opinion I overdid it . This is just me experimenting with color. Share your constructive thoughts as to what version you like best in the comments below.
