Bark in the Park 2012 Church Square Park Saturday September 29 2012 12pm-5pm

Bark in the Park 2012

When: Saturday, September 29, 2012 from noon to 5PM (walk begins at noon)

Where: Church Square Park, Hoboken, NJ

Liberty Humane Society’s 9th annual Bark in the Park is almost here! They  are bringing the party back to Hoboken’s Church Square Park this year for what will hopefully be the most successful Bark in the Park yet!

This year, they are setting up a goal of raising $40,000 through the walk portion of the event. Participants can sign up via their website and choose to participate as an individual walker or form a team. After the walk, participants are invited to the Pet Expo to enjoy the LHS dog agility demonstration, fashion show, contests, raffles and shopping at 50+ pet vendors.

The initial registration fee for the Bark in the Park is $25 per walker and $35 for a human plus one dog. Why stop there? In order to help them  reach their goal, they ask that each individual participant set a personal fundraising goal of at least $200. If 200 participants each raise this much, then they will already reach their goal of $40,000!

Participants are also encouraged to form a walking team. By forming teams, you are helping to spread the word about LHS’s mission while drastically increasing your fundraising potential.

Also remember that we will have fabulous prizes available for the top individual fundraisers and fundraising teams! Online registration will close on September 28th. Be sure to sign up today and start fundraising!

To register go to: http://www.donorpages.com/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fFundraiser%2fFRConfiguration.aspx

To up the ante LHS has two celebrity guests attending this year’s Bark in the Park…

Celebrity Guests Attending Liberty Humane Society’s Bark in the Park

Liberty Humane Society (LHS) is thrilled to announce that James Roday and Maggie Lawson, stars of the popular show “Psych” on the USA Network, will be attending Bark in the Park 2012 on September 29th in Church Square Park, in Hoboken, NJ. James and Maggie will be leading the walk fundraiser which begins at noon and then hanging out with attendees throughout the day. They will also be the hosts of the LHS Doggie Couture Fashion Show which will feature the shelter dogs walking down the runway in clothes donated by local pet stores.

“Maggie and I are thrilled to be hosting Liberty Humane’s Bark in the Park. We initially mistook the event for a tree hugging ceremony involving a communal picnic. Since we’ll probably never make it to Burning Man, it seemed like a fun little excursion to jump into,” said James Roday. “Then we were told it’s actually going to help promote animal welfare. As rescue “parents” ourselves, this was even more ideal. But seriously, LHS is like the little engine that could, so please come out and support a great cause and be a part of an event that will have a positive impact in your community. And adopt a dog — or a cat or both.”

Sign up for the Bark in the Park walk today and attend the pet expo afterwards for your chance to meet the stars of “Psych” and to be a part of this blowout fundraiser for Liberty Humane Society. Register via the Bark in the Park website at http://libertyhumane.donorpages.com/Event/

Back in Black 2 Adoption Promotion at Liberty Human Society and Bake Sale May 20th 11am-4pm

Back in Black 2 Adoption Promotion at Liberty Human Society

Even though black dogs and cats can make wonderful pets, they are often overlooked at shelters because of the color of their fur and outdated myths. Liberty Humane is proud to partner with Best Friends Animal Society and about 100 other animal rescue groups nationwide to promote the adoption of black animals through the “Back in Black” promotion. Throughout the month of May, all black animals at LHS will be offered at 50% off of the standard adoption fee.

In the market for a black cat? LHS has a number of black cats ranging in ages. What is really unique is the fact that most of these cats share a similar personality trait – they LOVE to play! If you are looking for an active playmate, then come visit Vixen, Nola, Dora or Sprocket. Nola and Dora are also chatterboxes so they will be sure to speak up when they want your attention.

How about a black dog? Gunner is one of Liberty Humane’s long-term residents and we’re not sure why. He is a sweet, affectionate dude that loves to go for long walks and also to spend time relaxing on the couch. Also available at the discounted fee this month is Prada, a gentle little girl who would be a wonderful addition to a family with young children.

On Sunday, May 20th, LHS will be hosting a bake sale at the shelter to help to continue to drive potential adopters to the shelter for the promotion. Join us and maybe you will find the ebony love of your life!

Liberty Humane Society adds:

“It is going to take us a few days to clean and prepare the facility to accept back all of the animals who were sent out to temporary foster. We will be organizing the return of hurricane foster animals in shifts, starting with facilities/rescues who took large groups of dogs on Wednesday, and individuals who took dogs and cats on Thursday or Friday. This was sent out earlier in the month, but the Back in Black adoption promotion is still going on for the Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City…..

Liberty Humane Society showcasing black dogs, cats during

national ‘Back in Black’ adoption promotion

Supported by Best Friends Animal Society®, adoption fees 50% off!

Black tie, black t-shirt or a little black dress…this year’s hot trend is furry, black and will lick your face or purr for you. Whatever your taste, add style and love to your life by adopting a beautiful black dog or cat during the national “Back in Black” adoption promotion. Adoption fees for black animals are 50 percent off!

Liberty Humane Society is holding a “Back in Black,” promotion between Monday, Aug. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 17 to highlight adorable, adoptable black dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. It is part of 34-day promotion across the United Statesbeing supported by national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society®.

“Rescue groups and shelters across the country know black cats and dogs are often incredibly friendly and loving, sometimes really silly, they can be your best hiking buddy or a real lap baby….they each have their own personality. Unfortunately, they get overlooked. By participating in this national promotion and featuring only black animals — and cutting adoption fees in half — we are hoping people will take a second look and get to know these characters for the wonderful four-footed family members they can be,” said Daria Benstead, volunteer coordinator for Liberty Humane Society.
