Here are some tasteful tailgating tips for Hoboken Football fans from Chef Anthony Pino of AD Catering | Events, Anthony Davids, Bin 14, and the Kolo Klub…..
Tailgaters
Tailgaters have always taken their pre-game drinking seriously, but are now equally serious about their pre-game eats. “You don’t just see the standard burgers and hot dogs at sporting events anymore,” stated Chef Anthony Pino of AD Catering|Events. “As you stroll through the crowds gathered at sporting events these days you will find a wide range of tailgating fare, from specialty cheeses to elaborate lobster and steak dinners.” Chef Pino knows a thing or two about pre-game entertaining; his company AD Catering|Events provides gourmet prepared food for those headed to the local Giants and Jets games at MetLife Stadium, or to those cheering on their teams with friends at home.
A tip Chef Pino offers to those planning to entertain: nothing makes a party better for host and guest alike, than to offer guests delicious items that require minimal hands-on assistance. He also gives a word of advice when prepping for pre-game entertaining. “Know your limits. If you want to have fun and enjoy your guests’ company, plan your menu using food items that can be prepared ahead of time, so all you will need to do is warm and display.”
A smorgasbord of AD Catering Events food
In addition, he and his team based in Hoboken, regularly put together a wide range of options for the local crowd who are off to outdoor events such as The Hunt in Far Hills, NJ, or are simply inspired to enjoy the fall weather and scenery with private picnics and wine tastings. Chef Pino continued, “Customers are ordering take-away platters ranging from the high end – lamb chops, filet, seafood, to the basic – sausage and peppers, sandwiches and cheese, as they head off to their fall festivities.” He smiles as he says, “What goes together better than fresh autumn air and foliage paired with good food and wine?”

About Kolo Klub: Hoboken’s Newest Events Loft: a Culinary and Celebratory Destination.
This artfully renovated 4,000 sq-foot loft space in a turn-of-the-century building in uptown Hoboken is the new home of the AD Catering Events team, in partnership with the founders of Pilsener Haus & Biergarten, for private catered events of 25 to 200 guests. On Friday & Saturday nights, Kolo Klub opens to the public as Hoboken’s first artisanal cocktail bar. Find Kolo Klub online at www.koloklub.com
With the exciting news that the Kolo Klub will be open Friday and Saturday nights as a cocktail lounge, TheBoken.com chose this HDR shot of the interior of the catering space that will now be a cocktail lounge part time. This establishment is located at 1422 Grand Street in Hoboken and is on the second floor.
Pilsener Haus & Biergarten’s new private events loft space The Kolo Klub, located at the second floor at 1422 Grand Street is now Hoboken’s newest artisanal cocktail bar:
Renowned Barmen Michael Neff & Kenneth McCoy (of Ward III & The Rum House) have created a menu of original and classic handcrafted cocktails exclusively for Kolo Klub. Below is a sample of three of their concoctions…
On Friday and Saturday nights ’til 2:00am, Kolo Klub‘s 4,000 square-foot handcrafted loft space becomes the ultimate cocktail experience New Jersey has been thirsting for — a further expression of Pilsener Haus‘ devotion to artistry, authenticity and quality. Premium draft & bottled beers, wine and a small menu of late night bites are also available.
Last night the founding partners of the Kolo Klub, Hoboken’s latest catering hall, had an invite only Grand Opening party for friends and the members of the press. Attendees from the press and local media included Hoboken Patch, Hoboken Girl, Eat Drink New Jersey, and TheBoken.comwith no presence from the self-proclaimed “most complete website about Hoboken”. Perhaps the cyber recluse webmaster wasn’t invited. I know for sure he wasn’t missed.
Complimentary drink and appetizers were provided and members of the new Kolo Klub organization git up and said a few words about the venture including Chef Anthony Pino pictured above. The event went from 6-12pm and those in attendance had a nice time. There was a magician who did some very neat tricks including bending a quarter just by concentrating. He had a variety of impressive tricks so don’t be surprised to see a magic show at this venue at some point.
A very capable and talented jazz band also provided some swank background ambiance. From this editor’s eye the place looks great and has an older European era feel about it. I place the mood of the decor in the 1930′s.
The Kolo Klub is located on the 2nd floor at 1422 Grand Street which is one floor above Hoboken’s popular beer garden Pilsenser Haus and Biergarten. Below are some photos from last night’s grand opening and more information about the new catering hall.
