Work it Out Fitness to expand to 2nd Hoboken Location in September 2013

In an email sent to TheBoken.com, Work it Out Fitness is planning a second location in September of 2013.  This is a good sign of a local Hoboken business hitting a niche and needing to expand based on demand. Here is their note below….

WIO Fundraiser at Pier A Park October 6th 11am-1pm for Hoboken Charter School

Saturday October 6th at Pier A Park, from 11am – 1pm Work it Out Fitness will be having an outdoor workout to help raise funds for the Hoboken Charter School that was recently hit with a bad fire and had to relocate to Jersey City for one year. Recommended donation is $10 but give more if you can.  All are welcome to join and refreshments will be available.

Certified instructors from WiO and SPF will be sure to give everyone a challenging, yet fun “sweat for a cause” workout!

As you may have seen in the news, assaults are occurring in every type of neighborhood. With the economy still uncertain and budget cuts looming across the country, we are experiencing higher crime and less government response. Now is the best time to invest in protecting yourself and your family.

On Saturday, September 29 at 2pm, Gotham Jiu Jitsu and Renzo Gracie Hoboken is offering a self defense seminar for women interested in learning how to defend themselves.

Reminder: Party With Purpose 5k Run Tonight – Adult Race Starts 7pm July 17th

Tie Up Your Laces! The Party With Purpose (PWP) 8th Annual Hoboken 5K, Kids’ Fun Run and After Party is today. The event will benefit local children’s charities. PWP is a not-for-profit organization with over 1,500 runners and supporters from the community.

Party With Purpose (PWP), is taking it to the streets with the 8th annual Hoboken 5K, Kids’ Fun Run and After Party along the majestic Hoboken waterfront. This exciting event will raise funds for the Party With Purpose local charities fund including the Boys and Girls Club and Jubilee Center.

HoBOOken Halloween 5K Race Registration Opening on 6/27/2012

One thing about the HoBOOken Halloween 5K Race every year is that the organizers like to plan it out early. This year’s 5k race will run on October 27th and registration is slated for 6/27/2012….

Hoboken Elysianettes Announce Date, Lead Sponsor and Beneficiary

for 3rd Annual HoBOOken 5K & Scary Scurry Kids’ Run

Race to take place on October 27, 2012 to benefit The Hoboken Shelter

The organization of this year’s race has begun. 35 Minute Bootcamps is the lead sponsor for this year’s event . Early returning sponsors include Ivy Rehab, Fleet Feet, and Litm! Creative Solutions.

David Cabral of 35 Minute Bootcamps says “35-Minute Bootcamps is proud to be able to sponsor the HoBOOken 5K, which is such great race. Last year we were the main sponsors and it was such an amazing opportunity to be part of the community. It gave us a chance to get in front of many people and show them that we go no matter what. Rain or shine this race was still a huge success and we can’t wait to do what we can to make this one even better.”

The HoBOOken Halloween 5K and Scary Scurry Kids’ Run is produced by the Hoboken Elysianettes Running Society. The fast, flat course runs along the Hoboken waterfront with a beautiful view of the NYC Skyline. Awards for overall male and female winners, age group winners and prizes for best costumes in a variety of categories will be presented. The 2012 race attracted nearly 1000 runners despite the threat of a rare Halloween snowstorm, raised close to $25,000 to benefit the Shelter and included age group awards, a costume contest and post-race festivities and refreshments. City of Hoboken to Celebrate Olympic Day Saturday, June 23rd starting at 11:00am at Pier A Park

City of Hoboken to celebrate Olympic Day

Event to feature Olympian Taraje Williams-Murray

5K Race and Sports Activities for Kids

 The spirit of the Olympic Movement will roll into Hoboken, as the City hosts a variety of athletic and recreation events in celebration of Olympic Day.

Hoboken’s Olympic Day will take place on Saturday, June 23rd starting at 11:00am at Pier A Park and along Sinatra Drive between 1st and 4th Streets, which will be closed to traffic during the event.

Taraje Williams-Murray, a 2004 and 2008 Olympian in the sport of Judo, will be Hoboken’s honorary Olympian and will be demonstrating the sport of Judo. The event will also feature a 5K race, a mini soccer field and gymnastics for kids, table tennis, yoga, fitness trainers, music, and other activities. In the spirit of the Olympic games, all are asked to wear their nation’s colors.

Those participating in the 5K race, which will take place at 11am, can register by visiting www.hobokennj.org/register (select “2012 Summer Fun In the City”).

“We are excited to take part in Olympic Day and inspire kids in our community,” said Health and Human Services Director Leo Pellegrini.

“The City of Hoboken is proud to support the Olympic Movement and encourage children to lead healthy, active lives,” added Mayor Dawn Zimmer.

Hoboken’s event is one of more than 700 events taking place nationwide between June 22 and July 1. The events, designed to engage youth and promote the ideals of the Olympic movement, feature athlete appearances, family-friendly activities and interactive learning experiences. This year, the U.S. will almost double its 2011 Olympic Day event total.

Around the world, more than 160 countries take part in the annual celebration. Olympic Day, created in 1948 to commemorate the birth of the modern Olympic Games, focuses on the Olympic values and ideals such as fair play, perseverance, respect and sportsmanship. In the U.S., Olympic Day events range from small gatherings to large, city-wide events.

Outdoor Yoga Series Continues on the 12th St Pier, Maxwell Place

Flexible Rhythm Yoga, LLC and the City of Hoboken announce the extension of the Outdoor Yoga series through the month of June. Yoga is a great way to strengthen your body, increase flexibility and reduce stress. Learn poses, sequences and breathing techniques that enhance overall well-being. Sessions are suitable for beginners, advanced beginners and intermediate levels.
