Andrew Martinez, a local comedian who has performed at a past Elks Club Comedy night and many other venues nearby in NYC has something to say about a more “established” comedian allegedly lifting his material. He created a YouTube video to document the offense in his view. Here is his statement:
"I received several phone calls, emails, and Facebook messages when the Comedy Central commercial aired for Tom Papa’s new special. I was doing this bit years ago and still do it. Tom Papa (or more likely, his writers) don’t need to steal material from someone who is struggling to "make it". If it is stolen, its not right and it only makes it harder for someone like me to be successful. If it isn’t… well… you decide.
That being said, I always found Tom to be a funny guy and hope that he understands why I had to do this."
For discussion: Do you think Andrew has a legitimate complaint here? Share your thoughts in the comments below. TheBoken.com first heard Andrew’s very funny joke about “MyFace” quite a few year’s back with the same delivery as Tom Papa in terms of the pause before the punch line. This was well before Tom had his Comedy Central Special aired.
Jib Jab is at it again with their 2011 Year in Review spoof. No major figure in the news is left alone in 2011 from Arnold Schwarzenegger to Congressman Anthony Weiner and “Weinergate” and one-time part-time Hoboken ex-couple Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries just to name a few. Watch and enjoy the creativity from the folks at JibJab. This year’s video must be watched several times to catch all the references to events 2011 since there were so many….
Hoboken Comedian Adam Wade has another story that he recently did as part of ”The Risk Show – True Tales Boldly Told” in New York City hosted by Kevin Allison from MTV’s The State at the People’s Improv Theater (PIT).

It’s a story about when Adam first moved to Hoboken and covers one of Hoboken’s favorite watering holes that is no longer in business (Ted and Joe’s R.I.P.). He describes how he initially got advice from friends to get help with how to meet the ladies in Hoboken. Adam learned the hard way that having only a twin bed is a potential deal breaker if you want to hook up. Adam has a gift for making a interesting tale out of personal insecurities and experiences that just make you want to laugh.

Hoboken resident and funny man Adam Wade mainly performs in NYC when local but here is a story that he tells with a great sense of humor and pathos about his encounter at the Shoprite deli counter in Hoboken. In this story Adam lets his anger get the best of him when he puts his proverbial foot in his mouth not understanding why he is not the top priority for his roast beef after being next in line. His story is done in true Adam Wade fashion mixing anxiety, old and new Hoboken behavioral traits and above all a very human and vulnerable persona that many of us can relate to. The angst, the guilt along with Adam’s own unique way of telling a story make this video clip worth a gander.
This story won him an award in a story telling contest about anger back in April of 2011. For more videos of Adam Wade doing what he does best (tell stories) go to: http://www.youtube.com/user/AdamWadeStoryteller
