4th Annual Hoboken Comedy Festival to Feature Artie Lange October 2nd through 6th 2013

You will really be able to laugh it up in Hoboken coming soon: Artie Lange will be featured in Hoboken’s 4th annual Comedy Festival October 2nd through the 6th.

4th Annual Hoboken Comedy Festival

to feature Artie Lange in October

Hoboken Comedy Festival 2013If you attended last year’s sold out Hoboken Comedy Festival, you may have noticed the unannounced cameos, the star studded lineup and the five days of comedy contribution to the city of Hoboken. In 2013 you should expect that and more–according to Festival Coordinator Dan Frigolette.  This year Howard Stern Alum and Hoboken Resident Artie Lange will close the Festival at the Pilsener Haus on Hoboken’s 14th Street.

The festival takes place October 2nd-6th all throughout Hoboken New Jersey, and brings with it headliners: Andrew Schulz from Guy Code, Thomas Dale from Chelsea Lately, Chuck Nice from the Today Show, Jessimae Peluso from Girl Code, and as mention Artie Lange from the Artie Lange Show along with two dozen feature comedians seen and heard all throughout your televisions and radios.

If you’re an aspiring act, it’s not too late to submit yourself to perform in front of industry leaders, decision makers and for a chance to open up for Artie Lange. All you need is a 6 minute YouTube clip and a headshot. To submit check out www.HobokenFestival.com/Submit.

Beyond the laughs, humor and alcohol consumption that comes with any comedy night, you can add the feel good element of supporting local charities. Each year the Hoboken Comedy Festival donates money to a partnering charity.

For the second year in a row, the Liberty Humane Society who supports dog adoption services, and low cost veterinary clinics all throughout Hudson County will be the partner organization. In 2012 the Hoboken Comedy Festival raised over $1200 for the charity.

In 2013 Hoboken Comedy Festival will supply LHS with comedian Justin Silver of CBS’s Dogs in the City for their Annual Bark in the Park Event in Hoboken’s Church Square Park on October 6th, and will be donating ticket proceeds, direct donations and calendar sales from the festival to the non-profit organization based in Jersey City NJ.

“The Hoboken Comedy Festival is a celebration of Hoboken’s Entertainment Independence” says Frigolette of the venture, “supporting local businesses and charities are the tenets that created the event.” This year half a dozen local businesses will sponsor the festival and the promotion photo shoot featuring famous comedians interacting with adoptable dogs at notable Hoboken locations.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer recognized the Hoboken Comedy Festival as “one of the latest additions to Hoboken’s vibrant cultural and arts scene.”

Hoboken Gay Pride Month Revised June 2013

This event is on Thursday June 27th at the Hoboken Library.

About the comics:

Headliner Jodie Wasserman- Comedy Central, BET, Last Comic Standing

There is no question Jodie Wasserman is a native New Yorker. Tough, smart and gritty, Jodie delivers her worldview unapologetically. Audiences return again and again for her wit, charm, and brutal honesty. Nobody and nothing is off limits. Jodie earned a psychology degree before pursuing her passion to entertain. She is a regular host and performer at top clubs in New York City and across the country. You may have seen her on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend, and BET’s Comic View. International audiences may have caught her on the Dutch TV show The Comedy Factory or on Japanese TV where she was profiled for her co-creation of Spin Cycle Comedy. Spin Cycle Comedy gained praise from both the New York Times and Newsweek for its innovative approach to live comedy: performing the show inside a New York City laundromat. Give Jodie your hipsters, your frat boys, your yoga moms and watch her spring into action. It’s impossible not to laugh while she deftly tackles them into submission. Like a superhero crusading to eliminate hypocrisy, Jodie Wasserman makes this world a better – and much funnier – place to live.

MC/Host Rich Kiamco – The Howard Stern Show, BRAVO, WE-tv, SIRIUS XM

Rich’s comedy career began with a sewing machine at the Fashion Institute Of Technology where he performed his first stand-up routine at the dorm talent show. Later that year later he met Judy Tenuta and became her costume designer and eventually began performing with her as her love-slave aka Miss Saigon. His one-man show UNACCESSORIZED, received the Overall Excellence Award in Solo Performance at the NY Fringe Festival and Best Solo Performance at the Montreal GLBT International Theatre Festival. Rich was featured on Queer Eye For The Straight Guy, co-hosted the WE channel’s 3 Men And A Chick Flick and has had multiple appearances on OutQ Sirius XM Radio. His writing can be found in Take Out: Queer Writing From Asian Pacific America, Temple University Press and Queer Stories For Boys, Thunder’s Mouth Press. www.RichKiamco.com

David Smithyman-  NBC’s Stand Up For Diversity

Failing to ever fulfill his true potential as a child actor, David Smithyman moved from Australia to New York City in 2004. Since then, he has performed in showcases for MTV, and Comedy Central, as well as becoming a finalist in NBC’s Stand Up For Diversity competition in Los Angeles. Currently, he works helping kids write their own stand-up at Gotham Comedy club as part of the Kids ’n Comedy program, and is about to embark on NBC’s 2013 Stand Up For Diversity College tour.

Adam Sank – Last Comic Standing, Here-TV, VH1, SIRIUS XM

Adam Sank is one of the most recognized openly gay stand-up comics in the country, having been featured on Season Six of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” in which he advanced to the New York showcase. He has also appeared on truTV’s “Smoking Gun Presents: World’s Dumbest Criminals,” Vh-1′s “Best Week Ever” and the Here-TV programs “Hot Gay Comics” and “Busted,” along with numerous radio appearances on Sirius-XM OutQ. He recently hosted two OutQ specials — the Frank DeCaro 50th Birthday Roast, and Derek & Romaine’s 10-Year Anniversary Special.

Alison Forns  – SNL contributing writer

Alison Forns is a stand-up comedian and writer based in New York City. She is a regular contributor to Witstream and SNL’s Weekend Update, and her jokes have also appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Comedy Central. Alison is a graduate of Dartmouth College where she studied poetry and philosophy, which are exactly like stand up minus having to brush your hair. She recently completed the two year acting program at the William Esper Studio, which was nothing like stand up, except for the crying. People often ask how she got into comedy. How much of the story of you want. Follow her on twitter at @alisonforns.

Veronica Elizabeth – LA  ComedyFest

Simultaneously a sardonic New Yorker and sweet Midwesterner, Veronica Elizabeth uses her unique brand of humor to lampoon everything from OKCupid to Anne Frank. Solo she has been praised for her “slick and assured sarcasm” (Theatre Jones) and “delightfully quirky style” (Improv Wins). Her monthly show from the Stonewall Inn, Gay Straight Alliance, opened to rave reviews “**** excellent humour” and sold out crowds at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Broadway Baby)

Chris Doucette – Comedy360’s Comic To Watch

In June 2011, Chris won 1st place at the Snubfest Comedy Festival in Chicago. He has written jokes for Emmy Award-winning actor Jane Lynch. He’s been named as a Comedy360 “Comic To Watch.” The Advocate referred to his tweets as “The Best of LGBT Comedy.” He has headlined colleges all over the country and received a standing ovation from the students at Florida Tech. He was selected as a feature comic at comedy festivals in Asheville, Charleston, Baltimore, Ventura, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and the Women In Comedy Festival. He made his television debut in 2013 as an extra on NBC’s SMASH.

Jeff  Lawrence -MTV, Grammy Awards

A prototypical native New Yorker, Jeff was born and raised in Queens, and is proud to let you know he got out. The Gay Jew, as he is affectionately known, was once a rock singer who has appeared on MTV, and with Bob Dylan on the Grammy Awards. He’s a native New Yorker, Brooklyn Nets season ticket holder, recovering pothead, and is against gay marriage. Well, at least until he figures out gay dating. He professes to know more about sports than any straight dude, and less about gay culture than any gay man.

*Lineup subject to change.

Every year JibJab does a year in review with a short jingle on America’s key events that at least deserve a parody such as Facebook’s IPO, Snooki’s motherhood, etc. The world did not come to an end despite interpretations of the Mayan calendar to the contrary which enables you to see and hopefully enjoy this video post 12-21-2012.
