This in from Hoboken resident and bartender/writer Chris Halleron on a donor search drive at Willie McBrides Thursday July 26th from 6-10pm to help find a bone marrow donor for a 5 year old boy named Jake. Additionally, there is a booth set up at St. Ann’s Church as well until July 26th as well. Here is Chris’ brief note….
Irish-American 5-year old in need of Bone Marrow transplant
[Dear TheBoken.com],There’s currently a drive to find a potential match for a 5-year old boy in need of a bone marrow transplant. As it turns out, his most likely match will come from an Irish-American—and since Hoboken is teeming with Irish, there’s a good chance we could find one here.
The boy’s parents used to live in Hoboken as well.
There’s a booth set up at St. Ann’s, and on Thursday (July 26) there’s an event at Willie McBride’s where you’ll get a complimentary pint for undergoing a cheek swab, which will help identify potential matches (flyer attached).
If you’d care to learn more, feel free to reach out to Lori Perbeck at lperbeck@gmail.com.
Thank you [for reading]!

- Price of one beer = one cheek swab
- Saving Jake’s life = priceless

Hats off to Lori Perbeck for organizing the effort in Hoboken, and cheers to Sean from Willie McBride's for his generosity! Hopefully we can find a match—Jake and many others like him are counting on it!
